Final materials for Book 6 SUBMITTED. Off they go, into the wilds of designing, layout and proofing, ready to mature into a real book by early 2025.

imagine that palaeo peeps find dragonfly relatives that are even bigger than griffinflies and they end up calling them birdflies

Following a big ant around for like 15min (I wanted to see where her nest was) as I slowly realize she has no idea where she is or where she is going either.

To be fair, if you follow an ant and don't start seeing more ants... if she's all alone she is probably VERY lost. That's not to say she'll never get home, but sometimes birds and the wind can make life hard for little ants. (and busses.)

i haven't read the books so i don't know how deep it goes
also the guy is like the most evil dictator ever, so it would probably be worse if he wasn't homophobic

@llewelly does it looke like they could swim turtle style?

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly in that case should i increase the size of the foreflippers? i'm not sure if there are/were animals w this kind of set up

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly i'll keep it this way then. how big do you think these guys should be?

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly does this seem reasonable? i think i'll use your emu upper limit for land going ones. larger ones will be fully aquatic (probably)

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly btw do you have suggestions on what to call the flying thing that deploys from the antennae? i have been calling it the fly. but that can be confusing since flies are animals. calling it drone seems a little dry

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly klis-cha it is then :D

do you think the klis-cha based reproduction cycle i posted is implausible

https://sauropods.win/

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly i need to redesign the juvenile as i found that there is a very similar design in a spec evo project.
i'd still like it to be very different from the adult. do you think having those morphological changes happen without metamorphosis is pushing it?

gay_ornithischians, (edited )
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

another inhabitant from the same planet as the "cameloid" and the "turtlemu"

i imagine most members of it's clade hunt Klis-cha (the fly like drones that bud off from members of the clade the "cameloid" belongs to)

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

@llewelly the legs in the first segment would change into the facial fingers and ears by growing more slowly than the rest of the body (and trough some bone remodelling)

gay_ornithischians,
@gay_ornithischians@sauropods.win avatar

here is a comparison of the cameloid and the dragonfly-like critter

one of the antennae has become hypertrophied on the clade the dragonfly critter belongs to. the antennae is now bigger than the rest of it's body. the hyper klis-cha is only used for flight. the other antennae, tho diminished, still has a miniature klis-cha that handles reproductive duties
