We can't create a feature, epic, or improvement in a single gesture.
We have to start somewhere and build in small pieces.
One way or another, whether we release after each piece or not, we have to make progress in bits and pieces.

In the 1930’s computers stored data in magnetic drums about the length of your forearm, so did they measure memory capacity in cubits?

Anyone else look at those pics we see of interstate highways clogged with cars and think "y'know, give two lanes to trains and most of this clog could go away" or is it just me?

I can't imagine it'd cost all that much to turn a lane of an interstate highway into a rail line. Most of the hard work of grade prep has been done for the road, and while miles of track isn't free it's not a significant portion of the cost for most rail line installation programs.

The DC Metro to Dulles is, to a great degree, placed in the median strip of the highway.

Yes, I think did a great job in his first term. I appreciate and acknowledge his accomplishments. AND I am not happy he is running for a second term. I won’t pretend I am. The failed. The biggest problem with this strategy is Dems completely alienate a large chunk of their base. If we have to choose between or teetering on the edge of dementia, most people will probably take their chances with dementia. But a whole lot of us will never forget that this was forced on us.

The people telling you that Biden is teetering on the edge of dementia are lying to you.

Yes, that can happen to anyone of any age for any number of reasons.

gdinwiddie,

Implying (or saying) that Biden has dementia has been a GOP talking point since before he was elected President. It's propaganda.

Change always comes from the grassroots. Contact your representatives, and various levels, and let them know what worries you and what you'd like them to do.

Let's see...

  • You're parroting a Republican talking point about the President's fitness for office.
  • You're happily admitting that you think it's appropriate to be against people for who they are, as opposed to what they do.
  • You jump to metaphors of violence, and seem to be in favor of more guns.

Are you sure you're not a Republican?

Testing is a continuous process, IMO. It's something you do "during," not "after." This applies, not just to automated tests, but to all tests.

gdinwiddie,
@gdinwiddie@mastodon.social avatar

@allenholub
Yes, when I worked in hardware development, testing to make sure the design worked was just part of designing. The test department was part of manufacturing, making sure each unit built worked. There is no equivalent need in software.

Today, 137 years ago, white mobs attacked Black citizens of Memphis TN, raping, killing, and burning every Black church and school.

This event influenced the passage of the 14th Amendment, but Black citizens of the United States are still not given equal protection under the law, in spite of what it says.

Every time I read the words "the Agile process" I die a little on the inside. Especially if people consider the source to be credible and influential.
Today, it was on a Microsoft web site.

What is "the Agile process"?

In this case - user story task breakdown.

Because... um... no reason I can think of. Why is that "the Agile process" to them? Have they not actually seen any of the agile processes?

gdinwiddie,
@gdinwiddie@mastodon.social avatar

@tottinge
I've never done explicit task breakdown. Yeah, I come up with tasks to make the next move forward on the story I'm working on. There's no need to do that in advance. Instead, I think about what I need to produce the outcome I'm seeking.

Who should attend the retrospective?

For years, I’ve seen people argue online about who should and should not be invited to a retrospective. In typical consultant fashion, my answer is “It depends.”

On my blog, I talk about what it depends on, and how you can answer this question for yourself.
