Was there ever a time when publicly-traded companies didn’t do stupid shit to juice their stock price rather than make good stuff and keep customers happy?

@grmpyprogrammer yes, some time before 1980 for sure but the stock buy is only a "recent" (last 20? years) because that was considered illegal

She Who Must Be Obeyed has commented that she has never seen me plan something like a car purchase 18 months in advance. She is correct but I’ve never owned a vehicle from a car maker that could implode because of the dumbassery of the company’s owner
