@emmaaum Marry my Dead Body, which all promotional material I saw emphasized the comedy aspect.
And like, it may actually be as silly as all that, but also with some strong bittersweet. That’s a valid mode of storytelling and works really well, the contrast emphasizing each part. I just didn’t know it was that here.
The edit is very much a spoiler, so I’m hesitant to link, but will if requested.
@glitchontwitch
I just asked in case I'd seen it or something. This one hasn't crossed my radar but the synopsis on MDL sounds interesting. Maybe I'll give it a go if I can find it.
@glitchontwitch is something weird going on with youtube the last couple of days? i think i'm hoping there is, at least if it's something that will be fixed. waiting it out is easy enough
Some people get really weird when they find out a piece of media is from anywhere in Asia.
Like, they immediately make it a Thing™️ that I enjoy it. They get weirdly resistant to watching/listening to it. They suddenly become adamant that it needs to be in English for them to do so. They also indicate that it’s weird that I am not.
Even when it is in English, they’re still weirdly resistant.
But if I point out what this is starting to sound like, they get really defensive. :blobcatthink:
@glitchontwitch My favourite instrument is kamancheh (Persian spiked fiddle); I'd love to have the auditory memory to better understand how it's used in Kurdish, Persian diaspora cultures. Also Kurdish & Persian classical traditions in general.
Difficult would have been the Breton discs when I was living hand to mouth, there wasn't much on the internet & maybe I knew a couple of musicians or tracks. Had to go to Breton fest deiz for Loened Fall. 2/
@glitchontwitch Satisfying - I collected early Beatles re-releases when I was maybe 13-15. Was delighted to find pre-Ringo Silver Beatles & the man as the cash register informed me that it didn't include Ringo & I got to tell him that was specifically why I was buying it and one-up his attempt to be the expert. Then I found the boys backing up Tony Sheridan :D :D :D
But also random things from the library like Hanggai's 1st album, Mitzoura (alt-Roma), Kerekes Band (live gig!), Kayhan Kahlor
@emmaaum lolol I was thinking in terms of age, so now I’m imagining these two doing the movie in their 60s and it’s cute. Gun, naturally, still looks 20ish because he doesn’t age. :blobcatthink:
So they use makeup to make him look like a 40yr old gangster.
End of the Year Drama Challenge 2023
I'm gonna try to make this a thread. Yay for the ability to edit posts, I suppose? I'll also link in the post(s?) that isn't (aren't?) in order.
@glitchontwitch That seems to be something of a theme this year.
No need for a warning IMO. It wasn't bad, just contrasting. And trailers = spoilers by their very nature.
Spent some time translating Salimos de Aquí for people in my #MusicLeague to understand why I submitted it.
Mind, it's a closed league among friends. And the theme... while it didn't exactly request it, made me want to share a bit of my brain and my background. Even if I get low votes, I'm pretty happy about the chance to do that.
(Though I will be a little grumpy given the effort.)
@glitchontwitch I can't manage keeping track of the emotions, let alone the plots, of more than two or waiting. I guess this is another one of those mysterious healthy-people things, like going out for a run.
