Does anybody know of any good plain #text editors for #iOS? Would be nice to have rich text support but not necessarily. Something that would store and open files in the Files app?

Wild that we can’t really natively edit text files unless I’m missing something.

We don’t even need TextEdit. Just integrate the functionality into Files, Apple. 🙃

I get the impression Apple changed something ominous a recent update which has caused a few apps to sign you out. Some I haven’t had to sign into for years was just stored now suddenly not

Is there a setting on @MonaApp that ignores capitalization settings that are set on the device? It is the only app that when I compose, it does not capitalize the first letter.

I went through settings, but didn’t see anything about it. Am I missing it?

After WWDC 2022 Federico Viticci was very loud in his advocacy that Stage Manager should be optimized to run on older iPads many of which had only 4 to 6GB of memory.

In his recent post "Why iPadOS Still Doesn’t Get the Basics Right" he’s complaining that Stage Manager should do more because new iPads are more powerful.

Which is it? Build features that take advantage of more powerful iPads or restrict features to accommodate older hardware?

Understandable some can be hardware dependent to run effectively. I’ve never liked the approach of cutting off certain features completely to certain devices. Limiting them is definitely the better approach! But hey, Apple wants to give the consumer reason to upgrade, I guess.

@andycarolan When Mac/Windows is your bread and butter for years it’s hard to make iPad your default, or have much use for it away from a companion device.

@andycarolan This is why I’m more inclined to listen to the experiences and opinions of actual professionals (like yourself) that have specific use cases that are handicapped on the iPad. I get far more unbiased opinion from it.

I do love that these discussions are happening. This is the only way to instigate change. I hope Apple is taking notes.

@andycarolan I think that’s what the crowd is crying out for; more from the OS to give them reason to use it more away from their Mac setups and not feel handicapped. I would love for Apple to accommodate this.

I don’t necessarily want macOS on an iPad but better compatibility to jump from an application on both and not feel one is far inferior to the other. I’d love to see that.
