Blindfolded speed runs of Mario 64 are insane. Like I’m already amazed by speedrunners in general, but my brain can barely process this.

It's nowhere near my most popular project, but I love the ~150 people who used https://QuickReviews.app last month 🙌

These visionOS 1.1 release notes are some grade A early platform shit, and I'm here for it. Just sorting out the many bugs in a brand new OS, hopefully getting things in order for a killer 2.0 later this year 🤞

It is interesting that this is something that could be controlled in software … all this time … and won’t come to the M1 or M2 machines. I wonder what discussions happened to get this concession. Did the dings in reviews matter? Product returns? Qualtrics surveys? https://mastodon.online/@9to5Mac/112038734458173912

@joesteel I have no idea how it is in the wider world, but IT at my work has been hit up by nearly every person who was issued a an M1/M2 device asking why they can’t get both their monitors to work. “Even my crappy Dell could do it,” is not an uncommon reaction when they’re told what’s up.

The replies to this very off-the-cuff, chill Oppenheimer review are absolutely unhinged.

Dune Part 2 opens at $81.5M domestic, the biggest opening since Barbie last year. Pretty damn impressive for a 2.5 hour sci fi flick with no superheroes.

For context, the first film opened with $41M and made a grand total of $108M.

My hot take: movies on the Vision Pro are an unbelievable way to watch movies on your own at home, but they’re not at all a replacement for a good theater experience.

@agiletortoise That is not the best part, I’ll give you that 😂

I know people like to hate on IGN, but the IGN video comment section is where the real insanity lies.

As is so often the case, the top comment is someone sharing the numeric score IGN gave the thing, followed by many people thanking them for their service.

This one had the bonus of someone asking if they could add more color why a 10 was given…just watch the video 😂

Game #3 beat this year! Goal is 10 in 2024.

After spending a ton of time beating Tears of the Kingdom, Sayonara Wild Hearts felt almost like cheating, as you can beat it in less than 2 hours.

I didn’t love the first half of the game, but at a certain point it really turns things up a notch and I loved the second half.

I suppose it's worth adding my rationale for wanting to beat 10 games this year in the first place.

I tend to play a lot of games, but I almost never finish any of them. I still enjoy them, but I'm a moth to a flame, so I'm always onto the next thing. In 2024, I'd like to stick more with the games I enjoy and see everything they have to offer.

@matt@isfeeling.social avatar

@NateBarham Haha I’m impressed! BG3 and Elden Ring are actually great examples for both of us. For me, I played like 10-15 hours of each of those, went “this game is so rad,” and then kinda moved on to other stuff.

matt,
@matt@isfeeling.social avatar

@me Yeah, I started it way back then and bounced off it, but glad I went back. The soundtrack is killer ❤️

My two cents is that the industry is killing itself by chasing games-as-a-service and ballooning every AAA game into The Biggest Game of All Time.

As ever, Nintendo sets a great example more should follow. Sure, Zelda and Xenoblade are grand games, but Mario Wonder was downright tiny compared to other major games, and even other Mario games. See also the recent Princess Peach game, Mario vs Donkey Kong, etc.

Ok, there is a positive. Ferrari and Haas don’t seem to suck the life of the tyres.

matt,
@matt@isfeeling.social avatar

@tekphloyd Honestly huge for Haas. KMag held off the RBs and Hulk recovered quite well considering his start.

Movie #1: Dream Scenario

This is a thread I’ve done 2 times before, sharing short reviews of every movie I watch in a year. My goal is to watch about 100 movies this year.

All reviews are created with https://quickreviews.app

You can follow me on Letterboxd as well https://letterboxd.com/mattbirchler/

Movie : Big Trouble in Little China

If I know anything about doing these reviews, giving an 80s movie an "okay" score is going to go over poorly 😛
