I strongly believe the “but hardware isn’t the iPad’s problem” complaint typically comes from Mac users who desperately want either:

  1. A Mac with touch input
  2. A Mac with more physical flexibility
  3. Both

Since Apple doesn’t offer that in a Mac, people like me look at the iPad and wish for it to be more Mac-like.

Both lineups can exist…obviously we’ve seen that over the last 14 years.

I also think there are plenty of people who would still buy a Mac and an iPad even if Macs suddenly had touch - they deliver different experiences.

@bradsiefert Not really, I do my jobby job in Figma, but I keep Sketch around for some simple personal stuff. I like how it's local by default and I can do something quick and not worry about saving another file to my account.

Instead of saying that the iPad should dual boot macOS, you should be required to state the problem you’re trying to solve and explain why it can't be achieved with an App Store policy change, or missing API.

@harshil @BenRiceM There’s definitely something to this, although I will say I’m not a developer, I’m a designer who does most things in a browser, in Figma, and in Office apps, and the iPad is severely lacking for me too. At home I use Final Cut quite a bit, but the Final Cut experience on iPads is far more limited than my relatively basic needs.

In theory I’m exactly who they’re targeting, but I get bundled in with the “it’s not made for you” crowd by some 😔

@HilliTech @jann @lorenac Just jumping in to say this is totally correct. Threads waits 5 minutes to post to ActivityPub, presumably since they don’t federate edits over to AP yet, so they wait for the post to be locked in on Threads.

Any delays beyond that 5 minutes are weird though.
