Listen, I would really like to go through all this with a fine comb but the things you are saying just dont make sense to me. It is not disprovable that threads is 10x the size of the whole fediverse (larger by its inflated user numbers) and it is not a stretch to say they have much more content. I‘m sorry if you thought I was ready to discuss basic math.

Asking me to prove that eee is real and a real threat is not something I‘m gonna do. I don’t know what you‘re hoping to accomplish by this. You‘ll probably say I couldn’t but I referenced and linked relevant things like the article about the addictive qualities of social media and the downfall of the xmpp protocol. There even is a freaking wikipedia article about eee.

I cant help you if we cant agree on some basic principles

  • it has been proven that large companies act like psychopaths
  • we have something called greedflation
  • saying we need rules does not mean censorship
  • meta has a terrible track record of violations against moral and lawful principles
  • the leopards eating faces situation isn’t new, it has been for nearly a decade

I‘m not able to continue this discussion as I feel like I‘m explaining things to a smart but inexperienced and extremely overconfident person which makes it excruciating to do.

The thing is, you‘ll always be able to wind out by some technicality and I would be working your posts 9to5 to disprove it all. If you were interested in gaining insight you‘d probably done so by now.

I do appreciate that you elaborate in your thoughts and opinions, I really do.

While that is true, I usually try to avoid biases. That is why I believe science, not people. I proved my opinion that social media has addictive qualities. The example you brought is not proof. That is why I didn’t think to refute it but felt like you were not being serious.

I accept that you probably want the fediverse to succeed but we have very different approaches to achieving that.

I can prove that the fediverse is growing organically. I can prove that aggressive growth is going to be very bad despite it being the current trend in business. I can prove that the fediverse is democratic and that meta is autocratic, and so on and so forth.

We are using different approached and have not been talking to each other but to ourselves, I‘d say.

If you‘re interested in a more open discussion, feel free to bring proof of your theories and we can discuss them.

Having been raised by narcissists, I often fawn if they start out brutal and become more tolerable, out of some misguided sense of hope. My own broken head I guess.

But I got that feeling talking to you when you started actually talking instead of just insulting me. I had to think about it again to actually find out the reason.

I agree. That is why I said values, not interests.

Interests are something that excites your curiosity or attention. Interests are different from values in that values are your personal principles. Interests get you excited about something and inspire you to take action. You will use your values to guide you as you pursue your interests.

Gave it a quick google to not have to formulate it.

I wonder if anyone on the planet has enough brains to get that loyalty actually is something bad… everywhere you go it is praised like the literal best thing in the world but actually if we all were completely disloyal and only subscribed to our values, we might actually get somewhere.

Are there minecraft clones that are compatible with minecraft mods? Or would that be a licensing problem with the mods?

Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it. I will check it out. Am an old school minecraft player from the beta days, a server admin and so on. Since I switched to linux and the foss world, microsofts minecraft really rubs me the wrong way. „Look what they did to my boy“ style.

To be totally honest, I‘ve had to work quite a bit to get my nvidia gpu under control but so far it works. I get weird behavior at times and the proprietary trash of a driver updating is like russian roulette (on ubuntu mind you) but it does perform decent. A lot better than the nouveau driver btw which gave me 10 fps at metro.

I agree on all points. Maybe I dont see the misleading part but everything else is exactly how i experienced it as well.

Two things I see differently:

  • the hardware of a pc is standardized as well and the performance of a console is not better afaik
  • there is something called unattended upgrades for linux which takes that away as well. You also don’t ever need the newest version of linux

No but pc is now available on tv. The more people use it, the faster these monetization machines called this decades consoles can wither and die.

Factorio is a great idea if you’re ok with school going to sh*t. I called factorio the „time machine“ since it could zap 12 hrs in one second. Cant remember any other game that I played till dawn in the last 20 yrs.

Sound idea. Additionally, it’s now possible to stream games to the tv quite easily. So pc is really the better alternative to get away from psychological abuse through console and game manufacturers.

Also, Minecraft on console is no better than roblox imo. It is a microtransaction pile of sh*t. You could argue that minecraft java works but I get the strong feeling that it wont stay like this forever since bedrock makes more money and allows for stronger manipulation through nonexistent mod support and everything is monetized there.
