The portal popups on gnome a recent thing?, i know you get popups on both kde and gnome for screensharing. But i haven't heard about this and the last time i used gnome was about 3 months ago

join-lemmy.org is promoting an instance with paedophilia

One of the instance that is promoted on join-lemmy.org is burggit.moe that is defined as "NSFW & Loli/Shota/Cub friendly". Loli is legally considered as paedophilia in europe and the US, so even if it's legal in the country that host the instance, I would suggest to not promote it as an instance to join

hschen,
@hschen@sopuli.xyz avatar

Deleted my comment but i guess you can still see it?. https://sopuli.xyz/instances, is where it was for my instance, seems like its just "yourinstance.com"/instances

Never used it but found this on the archwiki https://github.com/jumper149/blugon. Weird that redshift isnt working for you, it worked great for me when i used it

Tofu scramble is pretty fast to make, i just fry mushrooms with some olive oil for about 5 mins, then add tofu (dont need to press it), smash the tofu up with my fingers till its scrambled up and put it in with the mushrooms. cook for another 5-10 mins to dry the tofu out a bit. for spices i add at the end a bunch of nooch, salt/black salt, pepper, and some turmuric for the color. Usually eat it with some salad and hummus and bread

Kbin isnt actually lemmy as far as i know, its a different project, but they can interact with each other thanks to the protocol of ActivityPub.

I wonder if its related to the resolution?, i noticed the ones that dont upload are all 3072x4080, could that be something related?. maybe some weird edge case bug?

hschen,
@hschen@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yeah just saw both were removed which is unfortunate. Hopefully on the 12th when the subreddits blackout alot more people will show up on lemmy

PopOS, Mint, Ubuntu are the main ones recommended for new users, just try them out and see what you think. I personally used Ubuntu for about half a year and then moved over to Archlinux and have been using arch for like 4 years now, but arch is too hard for new users so dont try it.

Use the nvidia one im pretty sure. I think it will come with the proprietary nvidia drivers preinstalled

hschen,
@hschen@sopuli.xyz avatar

archinstall is good yeah, it would be nice if it had a proper graphical install rather than the console ui. I think less technical people would be put off by it.

Havent really watched lets plays in a long time, but recently started watching Mapocolops. Hes got alot of content on his channel and is pretty fun to watch

How are you feeling right now (gaming-wise)?

I should probably go to bed at this point. I typed up a short story of my arduous attempts at defending an outpost in the STALKER modpack GAMMA and how my game crashed when I turned in the quest. Sent off that post and woe-is-me, the entire text didn't get submitted and I didn't have it saved in copy-paste. It's just so...

99% of people just dont care unfortunately, preorders, microtransactions seeping into everything, all these new games coming out unfinished and buggy, knowing that most people will buy them regardless of how bad they run.

People will join the bandwagon saying a game is bad then buy it a day later too i noticed

You can fairly easily sandbox a full game, for example on linux im running steam flatpak version which is sandboxed and can play any game from steam. steam has certain permissions it can operate within and anything launched from steam has those same restrictions, basically means it cannot touch my home folder. Now, the flatpak sandbox isn't 100% great and there are some exploits to escape it, but im assuming most malware is not gonna be targeting flatpak specifically so probably fairly safe

Idk where the DS2 hate came from, before DS3 released i remember DS2 being quite well regarded, i put in well over 300 or so hours just replaying the game over and over again trying to create OP builds and beating the game as fast as i could. while DS3 felt super polished with a really impressive map design, it just wasn't as fun as DS2 for me.
