You should read the link up top, because it sounds like you’re making a lot of assumptions. It wasn’t a rage bait at all, but a response to video of taunting a bear in the woods about how taunting a man would be more dangerous.

And then it turned in to a bunch of different people discussing variations of the scenario.

One out of six women will experience some sort of sexual assault, versus about 40 bear attacks per year. A bear is predictable, it will mostly just go about its business, but a man that knows we are alone in the woods?

The advertisements for the game didn’t mention it at all. But as soon as the game starts I was like “Wait is this Whidby Island”?

Which actually kind of backfired on me since for work I had to regularly drive through Whidby late at night. Some of the games monsters were hard not to think about alone at 3 AM. 😂

If that’s what the devs said, sure. But the game does literally start with you taking a ferry to an island which always see very whidby/orcas/san juan.

But I’ll admit to my bias, I was driving through whidby at night on a regular basis when I played the game so they always seemed linked to me.

But only on one topic. Yes the FDA was created in large part from outrage over food condtions described in the book. But that really is only one chapter of the text, the majority of it deals with the exploration of workers in ALL sorts of industries (not just food), how preadatory home loans lead to finical ruins, how voting systems are rigged and how our policing system only produces more experienced criminals, not reform.

The last 2-3 chapters are explicitly socialist talking points that are still being said, for good reason, today. If the book was as influential as Sinclair wanted it to be, then we would’ve seen FAR FAR FAR more than the FDA.

I mean, heck, reread the passage I copied in. It’s not really about food.

It’s easy to say you understand, but if you think picking the bear is absurd, then you clearly don’t. There is a reason SO MANY women pick the bear without a second thought. It’s not a troll or a joke, but the reality that some random man who knows we are alone far from civilization is far far more dangerous than some random bear just existing.

Yeah but that’s a different scenario all togther. Not all men are dangerous rapists, obviously. But enough are prone to assault and SA that it’s statistically safer to have some random bear (possibly grizzly or teddy) than some random man. If you don’t feel like the random guy walking down the street is dangerous, that’s probably because random men on the street don’t regularly harass you, which is unfortunately still a very common occurance to most women.

Literally the opposite. Why would they ever do that? You are underestimating how easy it is to do nothing, game progress is beyond negligible in terms of storage space. And deleting it would reduce any chance of returning customers.

Look at it from sony’s PoV, if they did delete saves and then the community becomes less upset next year, why would they want to preemptively prevent people for giving them another chance?

Not only would it be a terrible business and PR move, there is just no precedent for this type of thing. Do MMO’s delete your characters once you unsub? Or do they just sit tight and wait for you to come back?

And I’ve countlessly agreed that it is a problem and that any man has the right to feel upset and/or scared about it. Including and especially him. I just don’t think that’s a good basis for saying women are inherently sexist if they are wary of being alone with a random man. His logic is based that since he feels the need to “work on getting over it” (his words), women should get over it in regards to men. It’s a false equivalency.

Without question the legal framework in a lot of countries is out of date and toxic masculinity traits that makes men uncomfortable with seeking help after assaults needs to be addressed. But that’s a very different situation from the reason women feel unsafe around men, a NOT AT ALL HIDDEN epidemic.

Big time agree. A group that’s not talked about enough is the Men’s liberation movement from the 60s/70s, who were the ones to popularize the term “toxic masculinity”, referring to the unhealthy standards men grow up learning to emulate for fear of rejection or being mad fun of.

The majority of women are not telling men to repress, be aggreisve or not to report abuse. It’s other men who mock victims for being “a wuss”. It’s frustrating how a lot of men can recognize the stigma against any perceived vulnerability but not make the connection that it’s their father’s, brothers, friends and malr social figures (like Andrew tate) that are the ones enforcing that BS.

All people suffer under the patriarchy, women from forced submission and men from regression and unhealthy unobtainable standards. For your own sake dudes, at least direct your frustration at the true source.
