So we started using Asana at work. I think I love it, but right now I'm also finding it stressful. There is a pretty big learning curve, and I have to fight my tendency to give myself ALL THE TASKS with immediate deadlines. There aren't enough hours in the day!

Does anyone else sometimes feel like we're in a bad sci-fi movie where authoritarians inevitably seize power?

The really bad part hasn't quite happened yet but the foreshadowing is there, the writing is on the wall, and the situation is looking pretty bleak.

At every other level of the judiciary, whether remaining on the case would undermine public confidence is an important factor in determining whether a judge should recuse him/herself. Yet we are allowing Samuel Alito to decide whether the man whose coup attempt he supported can be charged with a crime.

It's unsurprising that WEC isn't there since they are in their own special meeting today...

Today's hearing appears to mostly be a gripe session about the free IDs that Wisconsinites who are unable to get another form of accepted voter ID can obtain to be able to vote.

Fun fact: Getting a regular Wisconsin ID is so onerous that I had to use this procedure to be able to vote in 2020!

In 2020, I went to the DMV with a copy of my birth certificate, my Wisconsin lease, an unexpired West Virginia ID, and a recently expired passport. I wasn't able to get a Wisconsin ID because the copy of my birth certificate wasn't "official."

I had to pay money and wait several weeks for the State of Wisconsin to provide me with an official birth certificate, so I could give it to ... the State of Wisconsin.

I actually referenced this process in a public hearing at the legislature last year, to demonstrate how difficult it can get to get a Wisconsin state ID.

When I shared my personal story, I was accused by a committee member of voting illegally. (I did not vote illegally.)

Not sure why this needs to be said but drivers licenses, issued by states, have never been about citizenship, which is a federal matter. 💁‍♀️

There is a legislator who is apparently mad that he can't just call the DMV and get a list of all non-citizens who have state IDs.

"I get that you can't give out information about citizens, but you can't give out information about non-citizens?" SMH

Whichever legislator called into the hearing seems to think there are a bunch of green card holders who, rather than remaining permanent U.S. residents, would prefer to go to prison and be deported for trying to illegally vote.
