I can’t get enough of the yucca blooms this spring. They have so much presence. Nice morning with the low clouds burning off.

Sassy the Ayrshire the day after our 1-day weekend show, relaxing in the buttercups at Mom's. Next photo -- bovine photobomb.

“The 1910 weathervane, which depicts a steam locomotive and coal tender, perched on the White River Junction Station in Hartford until its theft on November 3, 1983. Theft of weathervanes was very common, as they are outside and easy to remove since they sit on a spindle to enable them to move in the wind.”

It was going up for sale at a NY auction when they checked DB of stolen items.

Transmissions are the wildest…

Teaching the kid to drive, we've talked about manual and automatic transmissions (we only have automatic) and why it's needed with gas engines. I don't think he really gets it (or cares). When I made my EV, almost 30yrs ago, I'd left the manual transmission in, not knowing the range of operation the big DC motor and not needing reverse electrical relays. City driving I used 2nd gear all of the time.

Good morning, what kind of rhubarb recipe are you looking for?

Made a rhubarb/strawberry crisp last night. Might have to try a Kuchen or just open book to a random spot and make that.

part of the appendix with cakes, cookies and bars, and “desserts” as if those others aren’t “:^)

I did a double take misreading the recipe “Rhubarb Plagenda” as placenta.

Searching the web I mostly find “German Plachinda” which looks similar to a turnover.

Also, these recipes heavily feature crisco/shortening.

Update on microwave/fan hood lamp replacement. I’d bought an LED for it a while back which wouldn't turn off. Also, same brightness for Half or Full. I figured the circuit didn't work due to low power draw, 1.5 vs 25 watts for incandescent. Went to buy incandescent from homedepot and notice their appliance light section consists of those and LEDs with tiny text saying “non-dimmable”, which is another way of saying "no full/half brightness support”.
Tried incandescent and it doesn't shut off or dim either, which probably means the LED somehow broke the circuit? I'm really curious what they are using to control this, seems overly complicated or not very robust. Curious enough to pull microwave off wall mount and take apart? We shall see!

Hard to beat the owl encounter on today’s trail run, but it was a beautiful morning, everything is greening up, and once my creaky body loosened up it was a great run.

I see Barred Owls on rides and hikes pretty regular, but today’s trail run was first time one flew over my shoulder, within a few feet, to land on tree right in front of me.

Barred owl looking at camera, swivels head to look behind it, then when I sniff it snaps back to front super fast.

This needs its own post.
First off, I’d love to explore it, especially the very top. But what is up with the windows?? The center jumble on second floor to start, but even the far right windows on 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor all have different spacing. Middle decks are staggered, in fact the whole middle “shaft” seems like an add-on. The left/right 3rd story roofs don’t match, other than the slate.

⭐️8 stars, keep people guessing!

“New house is coming along nicely, Jacob.”

Yes, yes it is. We hope to represent the town and its potential as a hub of forward thinking and commerce.

“Heard that Andersen fella over in Dumbarton has four floors and two decks."

Dammit all to hell. How do we get another floor without starting over?

“Ah, you'll figure it out.”
