I don't know how to pronounce "nay-gro". The right sounds for the word "negro" are "ne-gro", with 'ne' as in 'ne-ver' and 'gro' as in 'gross' or 'a-lle-gro'.

The only way to understand that the teacher was partially right, is considering that he calls "americans" people living in the USA, unlike to me because I name this way everyone in the continent, from Alaska to Tierra de Fuego.
