You need to host Jellyfin on your own server. For example, you can get a micro pc and attach a hard drive to it with N terabytes of your legally acquired movies and tv shows.
Getting it working right is a pain (I keep running into problems where it stops working, or the metadata is wrong, it forgets how to access the drive, and so on). You also need to ensure it has an IP address to access it from afar, and set us SSL encryption if you want secure access from afar. Expect to put aside several hours to set it up, and then several more to fix it when it breaks inexplicably days or months down the line.
Then you can connect to it from your browser directly or via the jellyfin app. Apple TV even has a jellyfin app, so I can watch from my parents’ TV setup. You can set things up so that different users can access different shows even.
Why does a vote for a war criminal necessarily imply a vote for war crimes? Trump is also a war criminal, and there are only three options (vote: biden, neither, trump) – all three will result in a war criminal in office.
This is an earnest question btw. I don’t understand your perspective.
Pragmatically, they’re endorsing the lesser of two evils to encourage people to vote for the lesser of two evils. They think Biden being in office will be much better for LGBT people than Trump will be, to the point that it’s worth it to spend millions to encourage votes for Biden. Third parties are very unlikely to win, so it’s not worth it; they could spend millions on some other project to more directly help LGBT people.
If you think it’s OK to vote for the lesser of two evils, then I don’t see why you draw the line at endorsing the lesser of two evils.
It’s pretty easy to discern refresh rate with the human eye if one tries. Just move your cursor back and forth really quickly. The number of ghost cursors in the trail it leaves behind (which btw only exist in perception by the human eye) is inversely proportional to the refresh rate.
He’s not an economist, so I’d be healthily skeptical of this exact economic solution. You should however be very concerned about his opinions on where AI is going that it may necessitate this.
It’s kind of curious that the headline here is “UBI” given that he mentions AI poses an extinction-level risk.
I hate decibels. Such needless confusion over whether they’re an absolute or relative scale, what the reference volume is, what the underlying SI units are. Are these all measured at a uniform distance? Why would you take a shower at the library?
A rock concert emanating from a point will sound considerably louder at 5 feet vs 30 feet and will make just as much of a difference as 50 feet vs 300.
Of course, accoustics in a concert hall are designed to minimize this difference. Doesn’t explain jet fighters though.
Yes that was clear to me. I was saying that, while I don’t find same-sex content objectionable (indeed it makes me happy to see this kind of representation on screen), and I personally think it’s something children should be exposed to, many people would disagree. Just like other tags on here which I think children shouldn’t be exposed to at a young age but others wouldn’t mind. Relative morality.
Politically speaking, I would be happier if those who oppose same-sex relationships were to change their minds. They pose a threat to my life. But FOSS is for everyone, even people I disagree with.
