@jensclasen If I'm not mistaken, Lebensmittel would translate directly to “means of living”. A similar construct exists in Spanish, “medio de subsistencia”. For Lebensmittlepunkt, I see Lebens acting as an adjective to Mittelpunkt, so it cannot be the point for means of living, but the life´s middle point.
@MartinEscardo my solution (not so much for accents as for special characters) is a mixture of Unicode.It (installed as a service; see link below) and the built-in macOS text replacement facility (which sinchronizes with iOS, btw).
In UK (where I am) Facebook is going to start using my data to train its AI. I apparently "have the right" to object. And if my objection is honoured, they won't use my data any more. Honest!
@brucelawson even if the UK is no longer in the EU, they copied the GDPR into their data protection law. Have they changed it recently? Because if not, they still have to ask for explicit consent for a new use of your data.
Of course, if the UK data protection officer has signaled that it will do nothing, that clears it up…
