If you’re in Victoria, you can now access your digital driver licence. Add to the Service Victoria app wallet (or download the VicRoads app).

And if you get presented with one, remember: if two organisations can make a screen look a certain way, so can anyone else. Always scan the QR code to verify, and only trust what appears on your own device.

In Victoria and wondering how to pay the rent today? Please consider supporting the good work that VACCA does for Aboriginal children and families in Victoria: https://www.vacca.org/donate

There are similar organisations across the country, in every state and territory.

It bothers me that the ISO uses American spelling for its name. “International Organization for Standardization” Is that standard?

@jurgen just use the French name instead

@luciedigitalni Ah oui! C'est l’Organisation internationale de normalisation.

Interestingly: “Because “International Organization for Standardization” would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek “isos”, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO.” - https://www.iso.org/about-us.html

@gruber at https://daringfireball.net/linked/2023/07/20/apple-uk-e2ee:

“…the intention of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (well, one intention among many) is to force big social networks to collect data in ways that are more respectful of users’ privacy. The actual result is that Threads launched everywhere else in the world but the EU. “

I'd respectfully suggest that that's exactly the consequence that the EU was looking for. Meta does not collect data in ways that respect user privacy, therefore their product is not permitted to operate in the EU.

As part of my retreat from the bird place, I'm considering trying to sell my Twitter handle (same as here) to some famous sporty guy with the same first name as me. I’m having some trouble figuring out how to find him on that horrible website. I’ve been in my 3rd-party client world for too long. Now that blue ticks are randomly distributed, how do I know who is who? Will the real Jurgen Klopp please stand up? Does anyone here follow him, and can let me know what his handle is please?

@decryption Oh totally - some of them seem to be tributes, there's probably some parodies. Really hard to tell. I'm hoping there's some fan who can tell me.
