peeps, is it possible to use LinkGenerator to generate links to Razor Component Pages (i.e. a .razor file with a @page attribute)?

From what I can tell there's no way to add an EndpointNameMetadata to a razor page, which means the LinkGenerator can't do its thing.

Surely this is a common scenario - is everyone just hardcoding their page URL's?

@georgekinsman The path to the Razor Page is the name. So you arenā€™t hardcoding the URLs as much as the path to the file. They typically line up by convention, but they donā€™t have to.

The page name also follows View discovery conventions, so you donā€™t have to type the whole path in, as the containing folder structure provides hints for resolution.

@georgekinsman I tried using a IPageRouteModelConvention but the PageRouteMetadata trumps the EndpointName, so resolution by endpoint name doesnā€™t work, even though itā€™s in the collection.

I defer to someone more experienced, like @egil, on the topic and whether itā€™s changed. From my recent experiences, I hardcode the URLs, and I agree itā€™s not a great experience.

@georgekinsman @egil There is the NavigationManager butā€¦ itā€™s not much better than just hardcoding values. Itā€™s more about triggering the window.location change on the client.

I think this is an intentional design in Blazor since components are expected to work in multiple hosting environments, and you arenā€™t guaranteed to have the bits that might traditionally be available in a server-only scenario.

Experiment... As the "search engine" behind a 5000-records auto complete API is an LIKE query. Loading 60000 more records into that table made the API endpoint slow (6 seconds to show autocomplete!)

How would you improve this autocomplete?
