When you drop a glass on the floor of the bathroom where you’ve stopped to pee on route to the kitchen …

And it shatters!

Please, someone, anyone, send help, I’m trapped …

  1. Don't panic! (Says so in The Book.)

  2. Grab some towels.

  3. Sit down.

  4. Wrap your feet in the towels.

  5. Gingerly step out of the bathroom & get some real shoes.

  6. Grab the brush & pan (or the Hoover, depending) and get to work.

  7. Sigh of relief. Later.

Appendix A: Paint a sign and tape it on the bathroom door: "No glass(es) allowed beyond this point by penalty of (your choice)."

Appendix B: Party on.

Rinse and repeat ... no, forget about that!!!

Just across from the local school, and around the block from my building is a little library. It’s always full of books too.

This is a good idea. People need to be responsible about these, though. At times I‘ve seen some of them vandalised or being surreptitiously fading to junk books over time.

Oh, I never thought to make a list. Just one here for now:

Getting out of the house to that place where the morning sun warms the face before it glides around the corner, leaving behind shadow. Watching and hearing the world wake up while hectic thoughts are banned and calmness reigns.

Well, the chores are done, the sheets laundereded, the bed made, and I’ve had my shower. I guess I can reward myself with a nice lunch next, right?

Uncooked kohlrabi for dinner today for me - not too bad, considering.

Today's post is about family again, specifically how my sister breaks things!

The whole server migration from past night turned out a little different then I wanted, in total I could only cut about 30-50 euros per month from the main server cost

I did had to upgrade since it does seem like we need the power :blobcatgiggle:

But.... it wasn't for nothing!

Currently we are "future proof" with the latest software, both front and backend. The previous server was literal 4 years old :catblush:

So a little costs cut plus a huge software improvement

@stux Thank you. Looks like the effort was worth it. 🙂

Truly, I think I'm the luckiest person alive. Today's post is about how a chance meeting saved my life.

Dear me!!!

So happy to report that after receiving treatment, including x-rays, a CT scan and stitches to her nose, my mother in law was released from hospital and is recovering quietly at home this morning. As you can imagine, this fall gave us all a bit of a scare, so I’m leased to hear she hasn’t lost her sense of humour joking about slipping on a bar of soap. Which, by the way, she didn’t.

It’ll be a few days of recovery and, hopefully, no ... https://alexink.micro.blog/2024/05/17/so-happy-to.html

In an effort to lighten my mood today (worrying about the MiL) I've written a bit of a silly post today.

I just got a panicked call from my OH to tell me the mother in law has been rushed into hospital. It seems she had a terrible tumble while getting out of the bath, this morning, hit her head and broke her nose. She’s in her 80s. This is not good on any level. The poor woman managed to crawl to the phone and call my sister in law, who in turn called for an ambulance and then, rushed from her place of work not 10 minutes away (she works in ... https://alexink.micro.blog/2024/05/16/i-just-got.html

May your MiL recover completely.

I gotta say.. it’s fucking scary to see the far right rise so fast in so many countries with such extremes

We have had 2 world wars with so many deaths that also started with such ‘ideas’ and ‘thoughts’, we cannot and may not let that happen ever again

Unfortunately I don’t have the answers but I really much wish we could find some common ground and cool down things before it gets even further out of hand

kiwi2002,
@kiwi2002@mstdn.social avatar

@stux

Just a random thought ... wars start when states fight against each other.

Today's rise of the far right appears rather to be about fighting the own population and those considered outsiders. (Exceptions apply.)

Thesis: No state would have fought against the Third Reich and their crimes against their own population if the Reich hadn't waged war against their neighbours and victims abroad.

Else: You're right, of course.

It's been a proven path to search and find an external threat / enemy in order to divert from internal problems.

Enjoying a Life of Crime!
Ah, I love Monday evening TV which, tonight, consists of:

Brokenwood Mysteries — a police series set in New Zealand
The Vanishing Triangle — a true story of a serial killer set in Ireland
Harry Wild — a PI series also set in Ireland

I love Acorn TV for the choice of shows offered from all over the world. Which includes lots of murder-mysteries, police dramas, and all things crime. https://acorn.tv/brokenwoodmysteries

Yes ... I have a heart for New Zealand. 😁
