@phranck I think it's kind of the same as oh my zsh, just written in Rust and very, very fast. I like it because of the simple config and because it can get installed with cargo 🤩

@phranck Indeed, the recipes are very straightforward. I keep the config file under version control, so I can download it on all the places (e.g. dev VMs etc) and I set the little icon to remind me what system I'm running on. Very handy.

I hate Swift(UI). I hate Xcode. Just spent hours trying all sorts of ways, even asynchronously, to pull URL contents and finally when I figured out how to deal with their forced error structures to find out what might be going on, I’m told the host server can’t be found. Then ages again to find out, oh, it’s a damn sandbox setting you have to check to allow outgoing connections.

I’m in a complicated house of mirrors here with tiny little corridors all over the place, and jagged walls that bleed you for no reason.

Gah!! Ok, but honestly, I do like much of the structure and pedantic requirements. I can see how it can force compliance which is good for stability and optimization.

Honestly though the syntax can get so convoluted sometimes - it’s definitely at the Perl/Rakudo mad genius level.

I think I’m going to like this.

@simme I know what you mean. The two episodes we got after the first cancellation were enough to tie some cliffhangers, but far from the depth we'd grown to expect from the show up to that point. It also felt a bit bitter knowing it was forced.

@braid I can see that too. For me, the line is at—as long as it doesn't create a sense of entitlement or somehow elevate some over others. The remainder is a nod to history and the identity of a people. Especially given the form of monarchy we have, it's a unique cultural trait worth preserving (and learning about, both the good and especially the bad..., so it doesn't happen again). Another side is that in the grand scheme of things, whether we're a monarchy or not, doesn't influence important things. Like global warming, matters of equality, access to food and water – all so significant and yet so far away from a productive public discussion.
