Sketching stuff in today! 🦾
This might be something for the Hackerman title screen, but I don't know - maybe a bit too creepy? What do you guys think? 🧐

A 3D face made of scrolling lines and turning, made in PICO-8.

This is - a two-phase hacking game with a puzzle/strategy mix.
It's my main prototype for now.
Depending on how it goes, it might become a puzzle roguelike, a more story-driven game, or nothing at all 😅

A bit of a 🧵 below showing both phases.

The Hackerman prototype being played.

Hey fellow ,

Where do you go nowadays when you want to do a coding/gamedev stream? Is it still Twitch, or have people moved over to YouTube or somewhere else?

Asking for a friend. Who is me. 😅

Longish thread 🧵

I've been mostly gone from the internet for a while.
This is because lately, I've been having a hard time working and interacting with people. This here is a thread about why that happened and what I'd like to do about it.

krajzeg,

The cause is a combination of many things: my inflated post-Slipways expectations, the pressure I put on myself and some lingering problems that I've taken too long to address.
It's all still going on, but I'm not giving into it.

krajzeg,

I'm prone to over-comparing my work and myself to others, and in my head I usually find a way to lose these comparisons. Even when I get some success, I can't shake the impostor syndrome. Was I just lucky? Will it ever happen again, or am I a half-hit-wonder?

krajzeg,

This made me turtle inside my shell. I kept working on stuff, in secret, not sharing anything with the world, endlessly discarding prototypes in hopes of finding that one immaculate conception of a perfect game, which is not how anything works when prototyping.

krajzeg,

This is not the way to go. I miss sharing my progress. I miss having regular feedback. I miss talking to people about games and I miss just making fun stuff without feeling the pressure to succeed at all costs.
So here is what I'm planning to do:

Happy 2nd Anniversary, ! 🎂

Here is a rare (which I'm not sure we're doing on Mastodon? oh well) where the frame is just as important as the picture inside 😀

Starting the long process of moving a prototype from to 😤
A sane person might begin by porting all the mechanics as soon as possible.
Me? I'm more concerned with making it fun to click the board😅

I might be the only person who works on strategy games as if they were platformers - by figuring out the "movement" first.

It's very important for me to get that right. I find it hard to assess a game if that kinetic feel of playing is completely missing.
