There are over 30,000 schools in England.

The average life expectancy of a school building is between 30 and 80 years (30 for cheap prefab, 80 for better buildings). If I am generous and give them an average of 60 years, that means the government needs to fund the rebuild of the equivalent of 500 schools PER YEAR.

Instead, they've funded 500 in a decade.

So, they expect school buildings to last 600 years?

Why isn't this work materialising? Even with things the government buys directly, they still go overseas, like the 4 Tide class tankers for the RFA.

That last thread I boosted. One theme throughout, we as humans have this weird habit of elevating individuals to a point where they get believed & almost blindly followed by a large chunk of the population.

Be it Dawkins, Hitchens, Musk or whoever. The same thing happens with each. They do something good or say something interesting, & suddenly they get asked about all sorts, & large groups of people listen intently & believe them.

Criticism becomes frowned upon.

I wonder what drives it?

As I age, I am finding myself less radical.

I don't mean my views have changed though. I still hold most of the same views, though some are now more nuanced.

No, I mean what I think is no longer considered radical. And things that are now seen as radical would have been seen as extremist or criminal 30 years ago.

Maybe that old saying that you get more right-wing as you age is just inaccurate. It's just that what's left or right-wing seems to get recategorised instead.

This seems like a misguided article. Faster charging batteries are great, absolutely, but it isn't the battery that's slowing down charging in EVs, is it?

No, the physical connectivity is the issue. Chargers are limited by the size of the connection to the power grid. The price to install a high-speed charger is extremely high.

We need development in that area.

The reality is that many of these videos of police actions show misbehaviour by police officers.

When you've got many police under investigation, can you really blame the public for wanting to film?

Rowley is missing the point. I'm general, trust in the police is very low. Having a go at the public for commenting or filming is not going to help improve that. It just shows he isn't listening.

Every time I see videos of Americans shocked that Europeans get decent holiday time, or free/cheap healthcare, or don't get shot, I feel really sorry for them.

Not only are they so messed up that they think the USA is normal but also that many are so indoctrinated into thinking USA is the best.

I have never in my life feared being shot. I have never worried about not getting the healthcare I need.

Its crazy that an entire developed country exists where they do fear these things regularly.
