My wife's Kindle is stuck in a reboot loop. I've tried everything, but there's no way to do a hard reset that's not in the OS that I've found. Any chance there's a solution that someone else has found?

I'm struggling with how to track factions in my game. I know what the (six) factions are. What I'm not able to grasp is how to track progress/setbacks to their goals. Only like three are active right now, really. I've got a kind of basic understanding of tracking factions, but it's not formalized. I keep opening Excel with the thought I'll make a faction tracker with goals and progress, but then... Nothing.

@bedirthan I'll do that now, thank you!

@sonic81 the players have, twice now, disrupted the plans of a faction. It's not yet irreparable damage, but I want to have some ideas around are they changing their plans (regroup, speed up) based on current or next events.

The progress clocks @bedirthan mentioned in the prior reply are what I need. I can track progress and setbacks, and decide on the faction's next steps. For now I'll do it on paper, it will help me be deliberate with the tracking and decisions.

@bedirthan @sonic81 ooooh. Nice. Like when we last played the party was thinking about searching a farming hamlet. I usually give them three options: toss the place (takes less time, very obvious), try to hide that they searched the place (takes more time), or split the difference (someone familiar will probably notice things are out of place). I could reflect the time taken/time remaining with a die clock. Thank you!

I am absolutely looking forward to introducing Alanik Ray and his HUSBAND Arthur Sedgewick to my Darkon campaign and the fact that Wizards decided to make the Holmes and Watson counterparts explicitly queer and married to each other makes me very happy.

It also gives me the chance to introduce references to classic Sherlock Holmes stories, which will most likely fly over everyone's heads, but it's my game, so I can do what I want.

@athena_rose922 I played a 5E rogue (thief) who pretended to be lots of things other than. The funniest was me convincing another player that my character was a ranger. "Are we in the woods? Do I have a bow and arrows? I'm a ranger. No you may not look at my character sheet."

I've been thinking of playing an eldritch knight who insists his spells are granted from a divine source, kind of like the knightly orders from David and Leigh Eddings's "The Elenium" trilogy.

Just saw a person saying "You shouldn't be allowed SSRIs until you've tried going to the gym twice a week" and I have a very hearty fuck you for them.

And "allowed" is such a pernicious way to put it. It's the old "you're just not trying hard enough" which just feeds into the negative feedback loop and gets you absolutely nowhere.

Stuff like this pisses me off so much because that mindset kept me from seeking out antidepressants for years until I had a complete mental breakdown.

@Tim_Eagon @athena_rose922 that's where my brother was when he needed a hip replacement. The doctors insisted he be under an arbitrary weight, and mandated time at the gym. But the exercises at the gym were excruciating because of the bad hip. He couldn't exercise without the hip replacement, and he couldn't get the hip replacement without exercise. One of the doctors told him he wasn't showing enough mental fortitude to convince them he deserved the surgery.

@darth my father saw that computers would be the future. We had two Commodore 64's (one for my parents, one for my older brother) and a TI-99 for me. He wanted us using computers in our youth so we'd be ahead of any learning curve later in life.
