While I am personally against the idea of achievements, I recognize that some of you play for that reason primarily, so this might be interesting news for you:

“While playing the game, you can earn PlayStation Trophies just like on PlayStation consoles. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC shares the same Trophy set as the game on PlayStation 5 consoles. In addition, the PC version also has full support for Achievements on Steam and the Epic Games Store.”

@natejung I was wondering if Sony would create their own PC Store / Launcher. But apparently they found a better way.

visually look better in motion at higher franerate.

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@OutofPrintArchive I am glad to read this :drake_like: but I am also sad that PS5 Pro is even necessary to brute force the frames out of optimized games. Brute forcing frames used to be a "PC exclusive" thing... :drake_dislike:

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@OutofPrintArchive if you buy a Pro do you think that enough game developers will bother utilizing its additional GPU power?

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@OutofPrintArchive that’s true, I played Horizon Forbidden West at ~80 fps and it was good. The Pro 5 is supposed to have the same CPU but the biggest issue is pushing 4K with 8-10 TF GPU so I think keeping the same CPU might not be a bad decision.

But last gen I switched from OneS to OneX and extra CPU power helped bring more 60 fps games.

My only true gripe is that developers are punching above the console weight…

darth, to VideoGames
@darth@silversword.online avatar

When I see how awesome looks on a console (limited hardware) at 4K resolution and 120 fps I wonder why would anyone need better graphics in at the expense of framerate? Too many games are “aiming” for 30 fps on consoles. Stop it. :drake_dislike:

If games look better with upscaled images (DLSS) than natively rendered, then girls look better with makeup than naturally. Just my two cents.

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@schizanon we haven’t started wearing make-up just yet. But the general sentiment was supposed to say that native rendering is the best :) if you can afford it :drake_like:

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@solarisfire my post comes from being tired from Nvidia people shilling for upscaling when objectively native is better. I like modern upscaling tech and I use it as well, but not because I am delusional believing my game looks better, but it's a matter of money saving. Lower resolution gives me better framerate, that's all I use upscalers for. It is a technology which enables me to play current-gen games with last-gen hardware, so to speak.

@the_white_wolf @SpiritOTHawk it’s a matter of eye-brain training, I believe.

I played through the complete Diablo 3 game on a non gaming laptop at 15-23 fps. Amazing game, no regrets.

Nowadays I play most games at 120 fps because I see no reason to limit the smoothness to just 60. It comes down to choice and how you are used to. Generally I think 3rd person action adventures are OK at 60 fps.

30 fps no thanks. I am way past the tolerance required for that.

@darth@silversword.online avatar

I want to give the genre a try. I have been thinking about this for more than a year and I eventually settled on as the perfect JRPG (probably). And now there is that second dilemma: Should I play the first one or skip to the second one? The Internet claims the games are unrelated and the second one is simply better.

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@shinjiikarus so other people in replies told me to play the first one first so I leave myself “room” to play the second one as well in case I like the first one.

darth,
@darth@silversword.online avatar

@sorg I played a tiny bit of Octopath 1, maybe 2 hours? And it already made me cry. Not sure how is that possible, tbh, I am not usually that sensitive to game stories.

So apparently Apple approved a knock-off of GBA4iOS — the predecessor to @delta I made in high school — in the App Store. I did not give anyone permission to do this, yet it’s now sitting at the top of the charts (despite being filled with ads + tracking)

I’ve bit my tongue a bunch in the past month…but this really frustrates me. So glad App Review exists to protect consumers from scams and rip-offs like this 🙄
