lps,

Because Americans are obsessed with iphones, as a status symbol and “American” product and it’s a default…no effort required.

Could you drink distilled water with a mineral pill

Drinking pure H2O isn’t good for you. As far as I know it could even be deadly. But what if you had a pill with all the minerals usually dissolved in water and washed it down with a nice big glass of distilled water? Would it be more or less the same as drinking tap water? Or would you need more time to dissolve the minerals?...

lps,

As I understand your neighbour wants to remove fluoride, can he get an under tap filter that only removes those types of chemicals? If not, why not simply buy mineral/spring water. Where I live it’s the same price.

lps,

As someone who has a backyard pond, I can tell you algae is super resilient and essentially can’t be stopped. It even survives cold Canadian winters. I’m with you, it doesn’t need to replace trees, but it can be utilized for other purposes.

lps,

Fedilab works great and does double duty for mastodon as well

lps,

Kdenlive is likely your best bet. Even if u have issues here and there, in the long term you’ll be happy you stuck with it. It has very active development and is shaping up to be the most used foss video editor.

lps,

+1 for yunohost, the best hands down!

lps,

Rescuezilla is nice. I believe it just puts a more user friendly GUI on clonezilla

lps,

Another great insight into a fediverse project:).

I haven’t played with bonfire in a while, it looks like things are shaping up nicely.

lps,

This is just a bill to make people think they’re doing something. Stop the fucking speculators/foreign investors, air bnbs and prosecute the grocery profiteers from price gouging!

lps,

I saw a video recently with a guy using only a specific type of BBQ Charcoal yewtu.be/watch?v=5ZEGCFAEj3o

lps,

Seems like they’re covered with the mortar “While the “bottle brick” technology might have caught on in Nigeria, it was initially tried in India, South America, and Central America close to a decade ago. It is a cost-effective and eco-friendly option compared with traditional brick homes, which makes it accessible to many.”

What do I need to do if I want to use my old 4th gen iPad in 2023?

I recently was able to get back my 4th gen iPad that I used for university and got excited to start using it again just for basic stuff like searching stuff on the browser, reading comics and such. However I quickly realized that I was unable to download anything from the AppStore as my iOS version is 10.3.4 and apps like...

lps,

I’ve got a 3rd gen laying around, I’d be very interested as well:)

lps,

I saw report on the BBC and they were saying, on another story there were hundreds of supporters when it was clearly thousands

I hope this is the time they’re able to remove the shackles…as long as other African countries band together to support each other.

Shouldn't we be switching buses with light railway? (lemmy.tf)

Even if you think what you would say is obvious, please add. This is genuinely something I think makes sense regarding local bus routes given the longevity of light rail and how infrequently routes change, but I also suffer from confirmation bias, so I’m hoping for reasons this would be a terrible idea but obviously would...

lps,

Light rail is infinitely more expensive to construct and it only takes one delay/accident and all subsequent trains after cause a log jam…vs a bus which can route around it.

A better solution uses corridors dedicated to buses that are electric powered.

Something like this was done in Colombia with these routes being connected by ground hubs, similar to subway stations.

lps,

Your emails are already scanned by Gmail at that point, so you’re defeating the purpose

Cult of the Dead Cow Launches Encryption Protocol + ChatApp to preserve privacy. (gizmodo.com)

The protocol is built from the same digital DNA as the Tor browser and the chat app Signal and will be used to create new ways for folks to communicate, share files, and generally surf the web while simultaneously protecting their privacy.

lps,

Sounds great, the more options users have the better, I say!

lps,

Not sure that it’s something to be proud of;) They look like Beehives, which is what they are I guess.
