I bought another productivity audiobook this weekend. I'm about a third of the way through and am once again faced with the uncomfortable realization that another "system" isn't what's going to solve my problems.
@hotdogsladies It’s an excellent use of the tech! I’d kind of like to see a third party’s description of this clip fed into the machine. And then see what kind of nonsense comes out. I guess I could do that…be the change you want to see, etc.
Your dreams have made some concept art more than one solid Who villains.
We bought a new car last year. It’s mostly nice. But I hate the fact that all the stuff that used to be buttons is routed through a crappy tablet that takes a minute to boot up and sometimes lags for no reason. When I start the engine I don’t want to have to wait for my car to boot up. This is a regression. I don’t care how much car play there is.
@hotdogsladies I have just started listening. I've started studying this diagram, in hopes of getting up to speed on...whatever this is? I have questions.
Before making sense of why any of these condiments mean what they, apparently, mean my brain is stuck on dark vs. light waffles.
I've mentioned before how I really like and respect John Dickerson and his work. He has started a podcast where he has used notebooks he's kept over the years as a prompt to talk about...whatever has been on his mind, maybe. Whatever he's really talking about, I like it. It's good.
@hotdogsladies I was listening to a different daily news podcast where they were talking about this story and the aftermath, the new aid routes opened up. Then they immediately reported that the increased aid is "necessary to ensure the continuation of the fighting". It was one of the most depressing things I've ever heard.
Thanks for linking to this ep of the Daily. I usually skip it, but this was a good listen.
This place just came alive with a mention of the TV show, “Patriot” so let me risk being that particular guy by again offering my highest possible recommendation that you please watch s01e01 of “Patriot” on Amazon Prime.
@hotdogsladies They definitely shouldn’t have cancelled this show, but I am so glad they didn’t keep it alive until it turned into something less-special.
@hotdogsladies Is there another site you'd recommend for finding 3d models? I've been asked to find some files to print crystal models, but I'm not sure where to start. Quick search on Makerworld didn't turn up what I was after.
(We used wooden models in my college class. They were beautiful but probably cost several arms and legs.)
@hotdogsladies that’s a really good reason to have some non-magnetic calipers. I don’t do a lot of magnet-gluing, but you better believe I have a bunch of weird specialized and/or “duplicate” tools so I can work on my bikes.
It's only a small consolation, but I am really glad our country hasn't been thrown into chaos and violence by an ambitious gang leader named "Barbecue."
Just saw someone suggest that John Roderick listen to a podcast where Siracusa talked about his backup strategy.
Look, anonymous internet friend, I love you, but you know this is a little ridiculous right? Roderick isn't listening to any podcast, let alone one where Siracusa--Siracusa!!--goes in to great detail about how to set up a multi-layered backup system that makes him sort of happy.
@hotdogsladies November, 2005. I installed Linux on my 12" PowerBook. G4 (such a great computer!). Mistakes were made and I had to take it into the shop to get all my files off. The tech copied everything alphabetically up through "Pics". Other folders were gone. Luckily this was after I had finished my degree or a missing THESIS folder would have been beyond catastrophic. (I did have multiple backups of that one. I put a copy on every disk where it would fit!)
