@br00t4c Isn't the Secret Service supposed to deal with people like this?

CEOs keep pretending they can't afford to pay workers fairly while they rake in millions off of workers' labor. Don't fall for this illusion of scarcity.

masyukun,

@rbreich There's simply nothing left over after they've taken everything. It's simple math. Perhaps a federal subsidy could solve this social problem?

Not usually a magazine person, but I love flipping through "Popular home's ideas galore : how to build, buy, modernize and decorate" by United States Gypsum Co https://archive.org/details/popularhomesidea00unit/page/n41/mode/2up?view=theater

Labor Day reminder: If the min wage increased at the rate of inflation & productivity since 1960 it'd be $26 today—not $7.25. Meaning—billionaires & corps have stolen at least $19/hour from working Americans for 60 years.

That’s generational theft from the working class to keep people in poverty.

We don't suffer a lack of resources—but an excess of greed.

masyukun,

@QasimRashid I don't disagree with the argument that there should be a floor to wages, but this statement is cherry-picking the high point from the US minimum wage's 90 year history.

An equally arbitrary argument for using the original minimum wage amount of $0.25/hour in 1938 ($5.38 in 2023, adjusted for inflation) is equally unmoored from real economics.

Can you really be free if states take away your bodily autonomy?

Can you really be free if you’re saddled with medical debt and have to pay outrageous health care costs?

Can you really be free if you have to choose between feeding your family and keeping the lights on?
