What's your favorite desktop application?

For design inspiration, I'm trying to gather a list of desktop apps that are fun/enjoyable and don't have a corporate/enterprise feel to them.

Not games or streaming apps though. It feels like desktop app design hasn't kept pace with modern web app design but maybe my searches aren't using the right terms.

I realize this is subjective, but I'd still like more examples. 😁 Thx!

@wiredprairie I am hesitantly suggesting the range of apps from Moleskine Studios.

Corporate feel? Maybe. They are mostly productivity tools so that comes with the space.

BUT, they are nice to use and whilst they seem to lack something* that makes them feel super polished, they do have a range of nice interactions.

I contributed a search "focus" to @Mojeek which filters through the nonsense and will just show you results from Universities and Wikipedia.

Being able to set up (and save) very specific search filters is the best feature of a search engine.

@Mojeek I think Focus is disabled as default for new visitors. The link I posted still works, but the feature is "invisible" until you enable focus. And a good starting point is here: https://www.mojeek.com/focus/

This poll is based off the back of a conversation I had in work around the coffee machine. ☕️ It turns out everyone there, all six people (not including me), buy a gift for themselves on their birthday.

I have never done this. It was surprise to me that ALL the group bought themselves something.

A relatively unknown artist that I saw play live in during 2007 is playing a live show in whilst I am there this month. :tiktok_stun:

17 years later and their set is going to be pretty much THE SAME SONGS as they were playing in 2007. :tiktok_awkward:

Looking at listings, it's crazzzzzzy how much more is happening in the UK than in Norway.

There's MULTIPLE SHOWS (music + comedy) that I want to go and see EVERY NIGHT that I am in London.

I see more shows that I want to attend in that one week than I have all year here. 😅
