Ever wondered how you date a standing stone? This one fell down.
Excavation of the stone hole yielded organic material that was dated to 1090BCE +/-100years (and then it was re-erected. )

That’s late Bronze Age. A fairly typical date for many single stones. So nothing like as ancient as much that we share on here. But why though? What were they for?

I’m seeking an expert in geomancy, ley lines, and occult practices involving the land to speak at an online event on 15 June. Anyone you’d suggest? Can be skeptic or believer, as long as they can explain the concept! It’s a paid gig, and the audience is mainly writers.

It's for my next Writing the Occult, which is about connections to the land - so if you have other suggestions that fit that theme, I’d also love to hear them.

Above beautiful Church Cove in Gunwalloe, lie these large . Are they the remains of a Promontory Fort (Cliff Castle) or just combined with windblown sand? Have a look at the photos by Bladup above and on our page - what do you think?

This towering stone above Todmorden in Yorkshire hides a mystery. It doesn’t seem to be ancient - not in its current position in any case. It appeared between 1912 and 1921 and no one really knows where it came from. More 1/ 🏺

This spectacular petroglyph site north of Bergen is under threat from a vast new quarry. Up to 200 petroglyphs on a single surface. Red deer, moose, reindeer, dogs, whales and porpoises - at least 1500 designs. Thought to be Mesolithic (5K to 4K BCE) 1/
