Does anyone have recommendations for Mac apps that would let me take a large number of PDFs, photos, and text documents and tag and organize them for efficient searching and sorting? I’m looking for something more powerful than Finder search with the specialization of a tool like Adobe Bridge.
I’m looking to fill in some gaps in Apple Store opening data. If you happened to attend any of these openings, let me know:
Third Street Promenade (’18)
Regent Street (’16)
The Greene (’14)
Northridge (‘14)
Westfarms (‘14)
Int. Plaza (‘14)
Solomon Pond (’14)
Fashion Show ('13)
Carrefour Laval (‘13)
Chatswood Chase ('13)
Syracuse ('12)
Christiana (‘12)
Millenia ('12)
Kenwood ('12)
Manchester Arndale ('12)
Walt Whitman ('12)
Bridgewater (‘08)
Aventura (‘08)
Bay Street (‘08)
The Westchester (‘05)
@william do you happen to know if they gave out souvenir shirts? I’ve found some on eBay, but not in photos from the opening so I can’t tell if customers received them.
TIL that a flight can be rerouted to such a degree that it turns a 45 minute flight into a two-hour flight. I feel like they should tell you this before you board the plane…
@gruber can you describe the demo environment and the presentation of the hardware? How guided is the experience — are there specialized tools for determining fit? A range of head bands and light seals on hand?
@michaelsteeber do you think you'd ever write more about the Apple Campus, more specifically the offshoot buildings such as De Anza 3 around Infinite Loop and Apple Park? Super interested to hear about the history of these buildings and each of their purpose / what takes place there :~)
@william I like that idea and probably could, a lot of it is fairly obscure though. I don't actually know what teams are in most of the buildings and it does change over time. The best I could probably do without internal info is a directory of sorts
@william it's slightly (barely) outside of my niche, but go ahead if you want to! I'll probably never get to it. One challenge might be determining where to stop. The Apple buildings just go on and on through the valley
Follow up. I think this photo was taken sometime in late 2022 or very early 2023. The case merchandising matches that of the September iPhone 14 launch, and the iPad risers are no longer transparent acrylic since late March. https://mastodon.social/@michaelsteeber/110493728852997726
@ChanceHMiller Thanks. Do you think photography was prohibited because you can’t really capture the experience of using the headset without… using it? I’m imagining it would look pretty goofy if you pointed a camera through one of the lenses.
Just can’t recall a previous Apple demo where cameras weren’t allowed.
Mirage at Apple Park: If you're in Cupertino for #WWDC, don't miss the new public sculpture located in the olive grove adjacent to Apple Park Visitor Center. Pride displays are also back in stores:
I've been watching #WWDC since 2009 and even went to San Jose a few times for the community events, but this year is the first time I've actually been able to call myself a developer and appreciate the technical platform improvements. Even though I’m not attending it adds a new level of excitement. Can't wait for tomorrow.
Tip for those traveling to #WWDC: Make sure to visit the stores in both Apple Park and Infinite Loop to pickup exclusive Apple merchandise. They have different items at each store.
So are we going with #WWDC or #WWDC23? I've followed both since it's so much more effective to follow hashtags here than Twitter, but not sure which is the popular pick.
(It's baffling to me that Apple continues to buy hashflags and ads on Twitter. Every other ad there is internet chum. Totally against the values at this point. Was Apple buying slots on Tucker Carlson?)
I don't know if my memory is toast or what, but until the news last week of Photo Stream shutting down, I cannot recall one single time before that it was ever called "My Photo Stream." I've known it as just "Photo Stream" since day one. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210705
I've never actually seen one of the old Apple Store Grand Opening Visitor Guides in person. Does anyone have one they'd be willing to take photos of / scan? I've never been able to find photos of the inside.
