Listing to Adam and Jerod of Changelog (@changelog) is like a modern form of watching Bob Ross' #thejoyofpainting in the evening before you go to bed.

Their voices are really calming and relaxing. You know exactly that you get quality content, laughs, jokes, and wise words.

If there is an ASMR like podcast for developers, I can highly recommend, it is this one!

Every day is a / day now. So far, the learning is wonderful. Coming from PHP and without a proper CS background, I learn a lot about the lower levels I normally do not care about much.

Especially, memory management and Unicode (UTF-8) are fascinating topics right now.

I am quite sure, that learning Rust will make me a better developer too. I am tempted to even look into later.

For now, I stick with Rust and the 10 more chapters in "The Book" ahead of me.

Okay, I have a weekend ahead, and some spare time. Should I take a look at and ?

From what I see and read, it is an insanely powerful tool, but also not easy to master.

Thanks to I can simply create a nixOS machine or install nix into any other of the major distros available.

It would be nice to get some familiarity with it and use less wherever possible.

As my vault grows, more and more code is added too. I was looking for a plugin that would format the code blocks a bit nicer.

I found could Code Styler by Mayuran Visakan.

It has been running for about a week, and I am pleased with it. So, today I bought some coffee for Mayuran.

@bazcurtis I am happy with it. It has a bunch of open issues, but so far it has worked really well for me.

@freekmurze Big fan of the @changelog podcasts. They just need some more guests from the PHP community. :)

Who can help!?

Has anyone who is using an M3 and/or macOS Sonoma seen this artifact before? I recognize it for the second time now. It is gone after a restart, but still.

I would like to know what that is and what causes it.

Update: Opening Displays in System Settings and changing the resolution once fixes it. Could be an OS problem?

A screen recording of a MacBook Pro desktop, showing a strange yellowish tint when using a hot corner action to show all windows of a given application.

@Cykelero it is the application that causes it. I could verify it after using an application that has LT integration. In my case, that was Apple Mail.

Introduction Post:

Hi, I'm Shawn. I've been a web developer since the mid/late 90s. During the day I'm an engineering and security manager for a SaaS company.

I develop mainly in Laravel and WordPress (go PHP!), with a little Vue in the mix. I'm also trying to learn more about CI/CD and AWS.

I also speak at tech conferences and contribute to open source.

I post mostly about tech, and sometimes about local news, or other things going on in my life.

@shawnhooper hi Shawn and welcome to Mastodon. As you work with Laravel and WordPress, how many Lambos do you own by now? ;)
