My gf can't get Mastodon Web UI to display on her 'phone's browser (just a blank screen). I blamed it on "bloody Chrome". However, when I tried to demonstrate it working on my browser (Privacy Browser), it also had a blank screen.

JavaScript, cookies and web storage are all enabled. Both browsers were able to display Mastodon pages until recently.

Anyone have an idea what might going on?

@fitheach have you tried any of the alternative web interfaces, to see how they fare? I often use https://phanpy.social for instance, which you then connect to your account and which works great on my phone.

Apple telephone batteries are fucking shit. G00gle telephones break too easily and are also fucking shit. All telephone - fucking shit.

@mxtthxw I dread rain with my pixel 4a, it always whinges about water in the charge port. Battery life not great either...

@s @mxtthxw that's exactly where I am now. I have a OnePlus 9 but have lost all confidence in OnePlus as their updates are a catastrophe. All my family have iPhones. Do I splash on one of those, expensive but lasts and holds value? Or go the more frequent / cheaper route? 🤷‍♀️

@dajb that looks interesting! Agreed, it's all about the software these days. I'm trying out Niagara launcher which also has a minimal vibe and eg notification batching. I'll give that one a look too as I'm so easily distracted..!

@dajb @rochelimit notifications are where I'm struggling most, it's such a glaringly unsolved problem as notifications don't naturally scale without effort. Same for marketing email. 95% of disruptive pings I get could easily have been batched up for checking en masse. I'll report back on what I find!

I'm deleting all my posts today.

I don't regret having an opinion.

I also don't regret having an opinion on someone else's opinion.

Rather, I regret not using the best words possible to present those opinions.

For example, I tagged someone multiple times in a long thread. I thought that was being polite because it would notify them of exactly what was being said. But others perceived that as harmful.

I'm going to take a break for a few hours.

@fitheach just checked, my T460P has that too! For me, the best feature is the keyboard drain hole so if you spill a cup of tea on it then it pours straight through..!

@fitheach I think it probably does - check on the base for a slotted hole with a picture of a keyboard and drop of water next to it..!
