I hated tiling too, everything was constantly changed however, but not what I thought about convenience, before I met PaperWM (gnome extension) and it seems to be exactly what I needed. Using it for 2 weeks and I love it.

  1. Check logs, with strict settings they block own domains. Even their telemetry is opt-in, not opt-out as other browsers do.
  2. Cryptoshit is a thing, but 100% opt-in. Accountless sync is real solution for privacy.
  3. False. Both Cromium and Brave borrow patches from each other, that is a nature of open-source. They sued someone using Brave branding, and some scam projects as well.
  4. False. That’s how Windows is made, VPN services installed are only manually started.
  5. That’s maybe even good, same-sex marriage is not normal for most people, but anyway that has nothing to do with browser, even if CEO eats childs on breakfast.

Am I running the risk of getting my Google account banned for logging into the Aurora Store or a custom rom like GrapheneOS?

I guess there is no need to introduce what a Degoogled phone is (or a custom ROM without google services, like GrapheneOS is) and the Aurora Store is basically said in a crude way the Google Playstore but without the need to log in to your Google account, quite useful in my opinion....

Remove already backed up folders in Google Photos.

My device, Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, is currently running on Android 14 (PixelOS). There’s unlimited Google Photos backup. I have turned on device folder backups. While Google Photos app provides an option to delete all the photos in default camera folder which have been uploaded, there’s no such option for device folders like...

Disable all folders, except DCIM in google photos settings, so it won’t upload anything, but photos made with camera.

That is a joke. About that dumb comment do not use Brave. It is good browser. What personal information could you share to Brave?

Just an excuse to not support IMAP and PGP.

PGP is not used much by individuals nowadays, email conversations also moved to convenient messengers, but I guess in the future of mass surveillance PGP could become more useful again.

Mostly Dropbox, but I use anything that works with rsync, Dropbox, Yandex, Gdrive, Nextcloud, Onedrive. So yeah fillen is not an option.

Do you use Cookie Auto Delete to whitelist sites and delete evrything else?

mintycactus,
@mintycactus@lemmy.world avatar

Oh I see it in desktop version now, and mobile version do not has options to whitelist sites.

Mojeek and Brave Also try Gibiru to see uncensored results (those which Google and Bing try to hide)

I checked the settings, it is 1, too.

Thank You, but it resets again. I guess it is better to forget about compact mode lol.

As a 14-year long user, the new Fisher Price UI makes me sad :( What have they done to you, Reddit? (i.imgur.com)

Notice there is only 1 full headline (from /r/NoStupidQuestions) visible, it doesn’t even show the full post. There are 3 of those “trending” boxes but only 2 of those even fit their headlines because they are like 3 words long, they cut off anything longer including the description...

They redesigned it similar to old reddit and lemmy? Wow I can not believe it took years to do it. I really like how it looks on a mobile (I use Boost anyway) and yet to see desktop version.

That was the first distro switching from Mac. Obviously. Used for 5 days only. Everything is too simple to make it convinient and easy to use. Top taskbar is absolutly useless, yet takes some vert space. Replacing most default apps or try Mint? Mint was ok (BTW).

Check devs site if they have own repository, so you can add it and app will be updated directly from that repository.

Both are ok, but Proton is too weird, also IMAP issue for Linux users makes it even worse. Posteo is probably better service, than both combined.

CX File Explorer is powerful and easy to use.

I use FolderSync to automate everything about files or backup. Even moving files locally on phone. Most rarely used files and simple backups are synced with Mega, its E2EE for all accounts. For frequently used files I sync them with nextcloud webdav, so I have easy and quick access on my PC too.

I only need web browser, it can replace most other apps I use…

I don’t know what these words actually mean and I don’t like them.

I guess the only good option is Simple File Manager f-droid.org/…/com.simplemobiletools.filemanager.p…

I use CX File Explorer, it is free, but not FOSS.

mintycactus,
@mintycactus@lemmy.world avatar

I used it too, the biggest issue is no webdav support, than zip support is bad, pdf viewer is bad, no built-in image viewer, so you always switching to gallery (it is great, but switching back and forth is not good) eventually I decided why using two file managers instead of one and CX is really good and simple to use.
