God, I wish Eddie Vedder was still alive to see this moment

“We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. “… It is time to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster.”

Does ACAB include Lieutenant Dangle? And specifically, Lieutenant Dangle while new boot goofin’?

Surely we neednʼt fear that people will vote for the Leopards Eating Peoplesʼ Faces Party.

Why, they would be prevented from doing so out of concern that their own faces might be eaten!!!

If you want to design a new font because it’s fun, go for it! But from a utility standpoint I think the world probably has enough fonts now.

I am happy to report that, despite accidentally swallowing the tip of a plastic fork tine at the heavy metal concert two weeks ago, I did not die and I am still alive

If AI actually was like how people imagine it to be, it might actually be pretty cool

@monkeyborg People's expectations have been manipulated (as always) by the companies selling the product.

The way I see it is simple. A.I. is in it's infancy. I don't expect it to be perfect or to understand everything yet. That's all just hype.

The reason so many cartoon animals don’t wear pants is that they’re near-impossible to house train and it’s easier to just clean up after them than deal with changing outfits when you’re on a tight shooting schedule.

Apocalyptic sci-fi films made from 1974-76 constitute an entire genre unto themselves. Consider:

  • Logan’s Run
  • Zardoz
  • Rollerball
  • A Boy and His Dog
  • Death Race 2000
  • others?

Many similar elements, nothing like them before or since. What was in the water?

I’ve listened in on a few talking-head AI panels now, and it seems the universal advice to the problems AI raises is to be responsible about auditing its outputs and correcting for bias, inaccuracy, etc.

Oh good. As we have seen time and time again, there’s no solution for large-scale structural problems like expecting people to collectively exhibit extraordinary personal responsibility.

@monkeyborg oddly enough that's almost the argument that the aristocracy made about the "commoners" learning how to read.

They believed the commoners wouldn't be able to interpret the written word "correctly" and that their varied opinions would cause chaos.

I trust in the adaptability of humans. So far we've been able to adapt to most technologies. Current tech has widened that gap between adoptability and adaptation, but I think we'll get there eventually. It's what we've done so far.
