If this isn’t a sign of market difficulties, I’m not sure what would be.

This game is hardly the only one being discounted heavily and early on in it’s life cycle, it’s just the most egregious example that I’m aware of.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor 55% off right now (Steam)

Street Fighter 6 44% off right now (Fanatical)

Starfield 33% off right now (40%, microsoft store, Feb 8 2024)

Fairing a little bit better than the above:

Resident Evil 4 Remake 25% off right now (Steam)

Persona 3 Reload 15% off right now GameBillet

Baldur’s Gate 3 10% off historically (10%, gog, Dec 21 2023)

These are just the ones I’m familiar with off the top of my head. Of them, only Baldur’s Gate 3’s discount levels are what I would call “healthy”. 10% for Christmas and no discount since means it’s doing well.

every game on that list was released after Jan 1, 2023. If that is not “recent” then I have no idea what is.

I literally googled “recent aaa titles” and picked the first 6~ off of the list. I don’t hold any personal opinions of any of them except for Starfield, which I have seen my roommate play.

Regarding Starfield: it seemed to me that it was a 6/10 game.

Didn’t DLC and MTX come about because consumers wouldn’t accept a rise in sticker price for games?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, either, you may very well have a point. I’m just having a hard time reconciling “We added DLC in order to make more money since we can’t raise the sticker price” with “30% discounts are a reflection of how high the profit margins are for sellers”

It’s a decent packaging solution.

regarding the sandboxing, all the negatives are present with none of the benefits, wish they’d just rip that shit out

if you want to run software you don’t trust, firejail it or get it’s snap

What is good SoulSeek etiquette?

I’m new to Soulseek. Got my Nicotine+ docker set up w/ VPN through gluetun. I’m good to go. Port forwarding is working correctly and I’m sharing a little over 100GB of flacs that I have ripped personally with EAC and a couple people have downloaded some of my stuff, which is really cool. I don’t have privileges rn....

Personally I only ask that you “share-alike” aka make what you download from me available for others to download from you.

I think the amount of outrage a Steam Curator group has generated solely by pointing out that $game used $consultancy_service indicates that there is something deeper about the subject. No smoke without fire and all that.

If it’s really so misguided why does it need this much attention?

Almost every major linux distribution either has a KDE edition or can install KDE.

Does anyone know how to just turn the wallet subsystem off before the first login?

I absolutely despise how it behaves in comparison to the gnome keyring, the KDE wallet never fails to completely delete all of my passwords from my browser, which forces me to remake my browser profile to get them back after turning it off.

I use KeePassXC to manage my passwords

I think it’s interesting that this post is being downvoted. I didn’t know there were so many bigots on Lemmy

You can only pick 2 games from steam to play for the rest of your life, what games are they? (sh.itjust.works)

I have a large library of steam games, but yet always come back to Garry mod and ravensfield. I keep coming back for the modded content and every other game is excellent, don’t get me wrong. But a lot of big games like RD2 and watchdogs 2 just seem like such a long time investment. What 2 games do you infinitely come back to?
