Ramos is a great kicker. But looking at him just now I was wondering: was there ever a pro forward kicker in the modern game? I mean, it might just happen that you have this prop who happens to be incredibly talented at kicking. Anyone know?

Ich finds sehr enttäuschend zu sehen, dass die Chance einer not-for-profit Plattform erstmal vorbei zu sein scheint. It's understandable that the French and fans of France's #rugby side are disappointed. But that Dupont criticizes the referee afterwards saying he wasn't "up to the level of what was at stake” is unacceptable.

So much to love about the front-matter of the early issues of the Sitzungsberichte der königlich preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin.

First, the fact that they list the addresses of the residences of the members. I can just see how the day after a lecture, an enraged dissenter appears on your doorstep and demands a discussion.

Second, the titles and their distinctions. I mean, I would be pretty upset if I was listed as a "Geheimrat" and someone else is "Wirklicher Geheimrat".

Just finished watching the replay of Scotland v France and I have to say that TMO decision was an absolute joke. How was that evidence not conclusive?! Ok, you couldn’t see the line and the ball in one frame, but what possibility was there for the ball not being on the ground? Silly.

My 4yo just created a rom-com worthy of the 21st century:

Blue Monkey walks into a store to buy a princess dress, but he's short on cash and so has to run out to the ATM. Meanwhile Lisa (played by my daughter) comes in and buys the dress. Blue Monkey returns to find the dress sold and is understandably disappointed. The two meet on the street though and fall in love, with Blue Monkey conceding that the dress is a better fit for Lisa. Aristotle ascribes to the Megarics a claim according to which only what is actual is possible. Philosophers – like Nicolai Hartmann – and scholars of ancient philosophy have previously understood this claim as a (wacky) metaphysical thesis the Megarics positively held.

The way one learns on Mastodon about the efforts of someone to make this place at least a little more relevant by providing a bridge to Bluesky: the timeline is full with "how can we block this?!", "Make this opt-out!", "if this entails the implementation of reposts, this is the end of everything"... 😔

The still on-going #spam wave shows that we desperately need real #groups on Mastodon, i.e. groups with admins that can add and remove users from the group. guppe-groups are easy prey for the spammers and make using Mastodon a real pain these days.
