I watched Dune Part 2 yesterday, and I have complicated feels.

On the one hand the movie was spectacular - the soundtrack, the scenery, the story - all brilliant. And how they shot the desert scenes, and geidi prime, perfection.

But perhaps it was because I had already entered the movie in a dark mood, but I found most of the movie horrifying. I found myself, on several occasions, wincing, and uncomfortably shifting around in my seat. The scale and intensity of the violence, death and destruction was difficult to process.

I generally enjoy movies mucking around with my emotions - I get to engage with the movie on a whole new level when it happens, but geez, this movie took me to dark places that I wasn't expecting nor comfortable with.

Tldr; spectacular yet horrifyingly dark - 5 out of 5 black suns.

Borrowing the daughter's car today to run errands, including an out of town doctor's appointment.

Bloody thing wouldn't start, and not even the jump starter kit that's normally used on the diesel Pug could convince it to start.

RACV have declared a dead starter motor, and it's located in a difficult place to reach, protecting itself from a thump with a hammer.

Tow job on Tuesday when the local mechanic returns from his long weekend.

When she got the car, we agreed to pay the first 12 months of RACV roadside assistance for peace of mind - just didn't think that I'd be the first to use it, in the driveway no less!

I watched Unfrosted so that you don't have to.

Seriously, don't.

Seriously unfunny movie.

I can see how this movie would be funny to a huge chunk of America who seem to believe that the 60's was the golden age of comedy, but for the rest of us, nope. I honestly don't know how so many big names signed up to this - did they even read the script?

Tldr; Unfrosted - 1 out of 5 pop tarts.

Quite remarkably*, this is the most disgusting breakfast cereal that we've ever tested.

Smells terrible, looks terrible, tastes terrible - an unholy trifecta that fails miserably on delivering "delicious multigrain fun". For the quadrella, the actual product looks nothing like the photo on the pack.

My son's succinct review is "it lingers".

Avoid! Burn! Bury! Compost! Just don't ingest.

  • remarkable in that for a product so terrible, to pass through so many levels of Kellogg's approvals unscathed, and at great cost, and subsequently released to unsuspecting consumers. You'd have to imagine someone at Kellogg's saying "it's my last day - fuck it - ship it" to understand how this actually ended up on shelves.

In positive news, I am redesigning the entire on-boarding experience for the psych ward while I'm in here because there is SO much that needs addressed.

There is so much information that's only been conveyed to be verbally, nothing written down, all these surprises that keep popping up, not sure what I'm allowed to do. Oh, another blood test? Oh, Mental Health Act orders only last three days? Oh, I can't use the exercise bike without being medically cleared by a doctor? Oh, an impromptu interview with yet another psychiatrist because involuntarily admissions need a review by a second specialist within 24 hours?

And apart from my severe depressive episode I'm pretty switched on and even for me it's disconcerting!

So hopefully I can do a lot of good for both patients and staff while I'm here ❤️

ppossej,
@ppossej@aus.social avatar

@nathanaelcbr I have SIGNIFICANT notes from my daughter's off-boarding experience.

The only follow-up she received was a mailed envelop with some documents that should have been handed over as we left the building.

Her GP was un-aware that she had even been admitted.

Miss-communication is rife. Am hoping your extensive notes help with your experience.
