@itdaav we don't require you to have your first and last name in your email or anything like that. It is a valid concern but also know that a lot of the people using those dogwhistles masquerade under "it's my birth year" and try to push it towards you for noticing it was a hate symbol.

i had an app on my iphone which my phone's operating system randomly decided to delete off my phone. thankfully, they replaced the icon with a shortcut to re-download the app from the app store. when i tapped it, it said "sorry this app no longer exists on the app store so it's gone forever". so they deleted my app! not the developer's app, sure the developer made the app but the app was mine, it was on my phone! and they deleted it!

@jk yeah i noticed this with a Garmin companion app for my GPS. I was so confused to why my Garmin hadn't received map updates in at least a year... i remember having to download an app and that's why it was using bluetooth but i found out that later versions just use bluetooth to check for updates i had to bring the device inside on wifi plug it into wall and downloaded 10gb+ of updates...

@jk With a busy life and tons of random small apps to get tiny things like a car's GPS it is super easy for that to go unnoticed when the gps works and you don't commonly use the app. I hate this, remember when apple pulled flappy bird and we still had it on our devices? Full on revocation like that is very scary to me. Not only can it just make me feel like I've lost my sanity "I swore there was an app for this!" (in combination with how hard it was to search for the problem) ... I'm starting to despise modern phones more and more...

What BSD uploaded /etc/passwd to git and it took years for people to crack one of the developer's passwords? (I remember it being something to do with chess moves and that's why it took so long to crack)

@kopper It may have been unix since the time this happened was near the bsd split offs anyway (iirc). I remember it took a radeon gpu a couple days to crack it but it was funny.
