real talk though i do want to complain that if note search is disabled (due to the infra being down) you should still be able to fetch remote objects with direct links. it annoys me that i genuinely cannot.

while you're at it can you go ahead and uninstall yourself from my computer?

puppygirlhornypost,

@Miyokaya @puppygirlhornypost no i meant windows 11, can it go ahead and just uninstall itself from my computer? I have another ssd with freebsd and at least that'd give me motivation to change over to a linux distro for my desktop i hardly use anymore.

Can any of you tell me what name or spec of plug will fit this power socket? The opening is roughly 4 mm x 17 mm overall, with a square end and a round end. It is for charging a lithium battery, and I don’t think the original cord had a lump/brick in it. Of course I lost the cord.

puppygirlhornypost,
@puppygirlhornypost@transfem.social avatar

@Cyrus do you have pictures of the socket in question? Any sort of marking on the battery itself that can give hints towards something like rated voltage + amperage (hell even mAH)?

You know I often help new users to linux in private but I want to show someone that fedi can be a great place for asking simple questions on Linux distros. I don’t have the answer to this, and while I could just google it and figure it out I want some of y’all to try and help out with a basic question. Part of learning linux for me has always been figuring out how to do something to help someone else accomplish a task.

@notasocialismjoke is using stock kubuntu and asked me "How do I use diacritics like on windows?". I remember when I had the Dutch keyboard installed I could switch over, if I typed a vowel such as o and then proceeded by " it would give me ö. I have not used plasma in a hot minute (actually 5+ years) and so I’d like to know if people bother doing it the way windows does or if there’s a better technique.

puppygirlhornypost,
@puppygirlhornypost@transfem.social avatar

@niko @notasocialismjoke https://apps.kde.org/kcharselect/ there’s also kcharselect (like Character Map on windows) that lets you scroll.

I want to specify that this is why we often will use things such as (for pacman IgnorePkg) on database packages. I've heard too many stories of people running a database, updating their system and the database package is upgraded. This can destroy certain databases and is most definitely what happened in this case. It's why you'll see people utilizing databases in things like k8s have a tag for the postgres version instead of :latest and so on. You should always back up the directory of the database at the very least, keeping in mind the database software version so you can restore back.

RE: https://wetdry.world/users/ari/statuses/111542726731445202

puppygirlhornypost,
@puppygirlhornypost@transfem.social avatar

@Jessica This would have happened on any distribution. I have seen it happen on ubuntu server LTS because someone was not paying attention to how outdated the packages were. I get your point, particularly the stereotype regarding arch users but had there been something as simple as IgnorePKG, or backups it would have been possible to restore.

puppygirlhornypost,
@puppygirlhornypost@transfem.social avatar

@Jessica namely a migration from 18.04->20.04

puppygirlhornypost,
@puppygirlhornypost@transfem.social avatar

@Jessica Honestly? I didn’t spend that much looking at how to restrict package versions on arch. I know on Gentoo I can just set to =whatever, I know on dpkg (with apt) I can set a dpkg hold and an apt hold.
