Social bookmarking is a novel use case for and I’m super excited about it. I heckin’ love links and lists! I wanna use them for everything.

Things like are cool, but it’s not what I want. I just wanna link the thing. Books, films, podcasts, articles, songs.., they’re all just resource recommendations which can be encapsulated by links.

Thanks to @raffomania and @eb for the indirect prompts leading to this article mixing their ideas with my own.

@erlend @eb Very nice read. The core idea behind linkblocks is indeed to have a collaborative space for sharing information.

Maybe the biggest distinction to pinboard, betula etc. is the are.na way of structuring bookmarks in a graph. I've tried to avoid the term "zettelkasten", but it's a similar concept familiar to many people.

@underlap @erlend @eb In linkblocks, you relate to other collections by linking to them, and annotating the links. It's a very flexible way to organize knowledge, and as Erlend hinted at, it's challenging to provide a good UX.

How it's going with linkblocks so far. There are bookmarks, notes and lists.
But not for long. I'm going to revamp the db schema and UI completely now :blobbongocat:

@erlend yes, I’m torn between GPL and MIT. Ideally I’d like something in the spirit of GPL but in a shorter form and adapted to the modern FOSS community. I value user freedom and want to preserve it, which is why I want to do more than keeping the source open.
