Kinda wild everything that's happened with Masto/Fedi in the last 18 months (when I came back "in full”)…

  • Huge growth in DAU (because of the “X”odus)
  • Tons of new Fedi web/mobile clients were born (e.g. Ivory, Mammoth, Ice Cubes. Phanpy, Trunks, Sora, Mona)
  • Threads begins their journey into the Fediverse
  • Nostr bridges to Fedi via Mostr
  • Bluesky has been bridged to Fedi via BridgyFed

...and a lot more I unfortunately can't fit in the 500 characters vanilla Mastodon afford me (FIX THIS!)

This is absolutely psychotic. There are four iPads in the lineup as of now, but four Apple Pencils. Unbelievable.

So I just tried opting into (https://brid.gy/mastodon/@atomicpoet@atomicpoet.org).

I found it confusing. For one thing, it asks me for my Mastodon account. Though Akkoma uses Mastodon’s API, not all sites recognize this nor support it—I don’t know if BridgyFed would reject.

Secondly, it’s not clear how to opt in. I think I opted in but there was nothing to say “Congrats! People from can see you!”

Also, how do I receive posts? That’s not apparent to me.

What I thought I wanted to turn my Mastodon timeline into: Content about tech, indieweb, news, etc…

What it is becoming instead: just posts

It's better this way.

Did you know? Computers don't actually generate heat. Inside each CPU is a miniature portal to hell. That's where all the computations come from. The heat just comes from the ambient temperature of hell that emanates from that portal.

Mastodon ↔️ Bluesky (via Bridgy Fed)
Mastodon ↔️ Nostr (via Mostr)
Mastodon ⬅️ Threads (via Fediverse Beta)
Mastodon ⬅️ Twitter/X (via bird.makeup)

Mastodon (and other traditional Fediverse platforms) is the place to be.

Spend a few months really curating your Fediverse following list and try to tell me THAT feed isn't 10x better than whatever some big-brain algo out there gives ya

Last week, reported sales of just over $4 million in 2023 as net losses reached nearly $60 million for the full year ending Dec. 31. The company warned it "expects losses to continue amid greater profitability challenges."

If stooges think earning $4 million on top of LOSING $60 million is a "great business," then there's little wonder why they intend to vote for .
It's because they are stupid.

Today, 35 games have been released on Steam. Here are a few that you might find interesting:

  • Halver - a physics-based puzzle platformer in which you must slice blocks in half in order to proceed. Gamepad support. -10% discount right now, selling for C$11.69. Free demo download available.
  • PathBlasters - 16 bit-style top down arcade game, similar to Bomberman, in which you must blast obstacles and enemies that are in your way. Gamepad support. Local and online PvP options. -17% discount right now, selling for C$12.85. Free demo download available.
  • Case Files: Behind Closed Doors - an FMV mystery in which you play a detective trying to find a murderer. Gamepad support. -10% discount, selling for C$11.69.
  • Ghost room - a Japanese-made supernatural horror game in which you play an exorcist investigating spirits in a house. -20% discount, selling for C$3.99.
  • Revival: Recolonization - a 4X strategy game, similar to Civilization, set in a post-apocalyptic Earth. -20% discount, selling for C$31.19. Free demo download available.
  • Goons: Legends & Mayhem - an arcade hockey game with fantasy elements with options for local and online PvP. Game pad support. 20% discount, selling at C$19.99. This one is now on my wishlist.
  • Headquarters: World War II - a tactical turn-based RPG, with PvP elements, obviously set in World War II. Gamepad support, and is playable on Steam Deck. -10% discount, selling at C$46.79.
  • Tiny Connections - a strategy city planning simulation about connecting neighbourhood to electricity and water. Gamepad support. 30% discount, selling at C$7.34. Free demo download available.
  • Die Again - a top down shooter where when you die, you can possess the body of the person closest to you. Gamepad support. Selling for $15.99. Free demo download available.

All told, a pretty good day for new releases on PC. There’s truly something for everyone. While almost none of these games will get much media attention, they are at least interesting to me.

Some reviews of the Humane AI Pin are coming out today. I can't understand how anyone could have had any hope that this thing would even be functional, much less "good”. It's literally a device with "AI” in the name of it which is a dead giveaway that it won't work. No way a wearable, backed by any version of modern “AI” (trying not to barf here) could possibly be taken seriously as a smartphone replacement. Someone please cast this device, and preferably all AI into a proverbial mount doom.

I love Bio Menace.

But maybe love is too mundane of a word to describe my feelings for it. I give rapturous adulation to Bio Menace with maximum amourousness.

This is a DOS game. It’s fly-by-your-seat action. Never have I wanted so much to be a one-man wrecking crew in a town teeming with alien mutants.

Another great Apogee title, and it’s completely free on GOG.com
