I've decided to ACTIVELY decouple from Twitter: Every day, I go back and DM at least 10 of my followers, telling them I've moved here and to follow me here instead (I remove them as followers after that DM). A number of them have set up accounts as a result.
Please do the same if you're more active here than on #Twitter That's how you can help the #twittermigration
@TNLNYC Sounds like you had more success with this approach than I did.
I announced a couple of times on each platform when I’d be leaving Twitter and Facebook and that I had moved here (linked to my account and everything).
Zero family followed me here and I think there’s a total of… two?… friends who showed up here after that. From hundreds of connections on each site.
But, you can lead a horse to water, blah blah blah. 🤷♂️
I’m not a reaction video guy, but I really enjoy watching professional drummers seeing that video and constantly stopping it to say, “Wait, hold on again, WHAT?”
@samlitzinger I just realized that Twitter has become the new Trump presidency era: Every day some stupid shit happens and I’m long-since tired of hearing it. (He says as he boosts the post because Hey, everyone, here’s more stupid shit that happened!)
Does anyone who records vocal audio have any thoughts on why my waveform amplitude seems so small on the recording software?
I’m having to turn the interface gain to almost max just to capture even that.
The presets I’m using in Audacity are in line with tutorials I’ve seen, so it’s not that.
And I know it’s not which USB port the interface is connected to on my laptop. But aside from that, maybe the mic itself (a Shure SM-58)? Maybe the cabling or a connection somewhere?
@thebishopgame Interesting. Any chance it’s the computer? I’ll get the program on another laptop and try it there to check that possibility.
A lot of this will be sorted out piecemeal as I swap out one piece of the kit for another. The guy at the music store said he tested the (used) mic and it worked fine, but the interface was a demo model and I don’t know if he tried that.
It’s all under warranty, I just want to narrow down the culprit(s) ASAP.
@thebishopgame The levels are on there, for sure, but I didn’t make note of the highest they went other than checking for noise floor (which wasn’t even registering on the metres despite being in an echo-y space with a furnace vent blowing loudly beside me).
I did take pics of my screen showing my waveform (top) compared to one in an Audacity tutorial (bottom, sorry for crappy focus). Both are at 100% zoom. There’s just that much difference in recording amplitude.
