My advice about backend development:

Database operations are generally cheaper and quicker than doing things in-app.

The people who made your relational database system have probably already figured out an optimisation for whatever it is that you're attempting to do.

    @alda works like a charm, it's just something like "I don't have capacity to process this so let it be someone else's problem at least for now". And it gives me a bit more headspace for something more pressing or something I can affect.
