This is an alt account for https://bitbang.social/@cognitivegears - this account is specifically here to post retro deals I find. This started because I love to find stuff on shopgoodwill.com, but I’m not actually in the market to buy anything since I have too many projects already. I like sharing them though, especially since it goes to a good cause. This is an alt account so that you can feel free to mute this account if this is content that you don’t want to see, though I hope you check it out!

Ever wish your Commodore 64 was a luggable? Found a Vintage Commodore SX-64 Home Computer on Goodwill. It’s at $206.23 right now with bidding ending on May 7th at 7:02 PM. I don’t have one of these, but have seen them at VCF Midwest. Quite interesting machines, though I’m not super surprised they didn’t do well commercially. Just not enough of a business market for C64s. But great collectors piece, check it out here: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/197878018

Hey everyone, stumbled on a listing for a Hayes Smartmodem 2400 on Goodwill. It's currently going for $9.99 and the auction ends on May 7th at 7:51 PM. The modem is untested. If you don’t have access to an analog phone line you could always convert the guts to a WiFi modem, or just keep it for looks. Check it out here: [https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/198082619](https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/198082619](https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/198082619))

Hopefully there is someone on here that can do this system justice. I found an auction for a Dynabyte DB8/2 Model 5100 on Goodwill's auction site. It's tested (to power on.) Auction wraps up in about 21 hours and going for $358 as of posting time. This one definitely belongs with someone who knows how to take care of it. Hey everyone, stumbled on a cool find for Apple fans. There's an Apple II GS, model A2S6000, listed on Goodwill. It powers on, and is currently at $89. The auction closes later today, so not much time left. The Apple II GS first hit the market in 1986 and was known for its graphics and sound capabilities, a real step up at that time. Hey folks, spotted a bundle of New, Blank, & Sealed IBM Formatted Zip 100MB Disks on Goodwill's auction site. Current bid's at $16, with the auction closing on April 21st. Looks like 12 of them if I’m counting right, which would put them currently about $2 / disk wish shipping. Depending on where it lands might be a great find for anyone needing zip 100 media for data transfer on retro machines. Check it out here: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/196646104

They're going for $29.77 currently, with just over 2 days to bid as of time of posting. I remember when drives were more than $1/MB - these would have blown my mind back then. I hesitate to mention this one because of the price, but in case anyone really wants one there is a IBM Personal Computer 5150 system. It comes with a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. Looks like they powered on the monitor and computer separately but not together. The current bid's at $652! and the auction wraps up in just under 8 hours at the time of this post. Take a look: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/194737143

Take a look at this Apple Macintosh Powerbook 145B. It's up for grabs at $26 currently, marked For Repair/Parts. There might be something wrong with the screen or maybe it’s just dirty. The auction wraps up tonight at 10:50. The 145B first hit the scene back in '93, making it a cool slice of tech history. Check it out: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/194350093

@pixel @woolie A ZX81? Wow that takes not just programming skill but also finger strength lol. I have a Timex-Sinclair 1000 in my collection now, though I haven’t done much with it yet.

@pixel Yeah it is. I’ve spent more than I’d care to admit in there. Sometimes stuff goes really cheap, though often pretty close to ebay prices. It does make me feel a bit better that it goes to charity though.
