I wish all the subs would move to Lemmy. There are a few off the top of my head that SHOULD be pushed to move sooner: /r/SocialEngineering, /r/HowToHack, /r/MartialArts, /r/Photoshop, and /r/meetup should all be here ASAP....
From what I’ve seen around some subs moved and continued its existence, while other didn’t become active and in some cases people just snatched names of subs on most active instances expecting probably that people just flock in. Some subs attended the protests and returned to the usual activity but it seems that majority didn’t bother. Small number moved to discord or were there already extending community activity.
Fediverse seems to be attractive to people who are both consuming and providing content and who are also engaged in technology to the particular degree. Majority obviously doesn’t give a single flying fuck about what happen to reddit by badluckhuffman hands and just waited till blackout will be over.
Nah, it was just an attempt to drive some people into site with slapstick content - it didn’t worked beyond making some Australian Aboriginal communities angry. Men.com never had an interesting content - believe me.
Seeing a thread get locked just for asking if it's okay to disagree with trans people's identities really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't want moderators pushing their agenda on to me. If I see something I don't like, I can block that user or community. It'd be nice to block entire instances, but I don't think we have that...
You can always avoid interaction within topics or with communities you know that will piss you. Its not that its mandatory to participate in every discussion, drop comment under every post
So, I know I can block communities, but is there a way for me to block instances? It looks like some instances are becoming specialized in their content, which is great, and I think a way for the Fediverse to grow sustainably and healthy, but there's going to be instances centered around things I'm just not interested in. Is...
Mastodon has filters feature that allows you to hide temporary or permanently posts or profiles based on keywords - maybe well get something similar here in the future
Offline as its not being synchronized into the cloud anywhere; if I need it elsewhere I just copy it manually from main OS. I could use some solution but its not worth efforts to my needs. What I keep in bitwarden is enough for my mobile needs
It feels easier that I can update my database with the needed apps credentials on two different phones and a tablet (android and ios) from desktop via bitwarden
With rumours that RTD plans on building up a mini MCU/Star Trek style structure with the flagship main show launching multiple spin-offs, what spin-offs would you like to see, what spin-offs do you think we will see, and what's the wackiest spin-off you can come up with?...
An expanded universe in style of Hollywoood blockbusters from recent years isnt an universal key to the success. IMO Star Wars, all the superheroes things and even Star Trek have become enormously watered down on quality, because creators in the goal of trying to keep audience around decided to build around these established titles. And thus I wouldnt want to see DW getting similar treatment; the tv series and what already has grown around it is enough.
While this might not fit 100% but I really liked The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein in which he describes a conflict (thats one of two main plots) between unified Earth and the Moon which is a giant penal colony.
People there seem to dont give a flying duck or are unaware whats up. All the communities that seem to carry subs I followed there arent that much active. At least for now - hope that soon this will change. Also, welcome o/
Mostly the title, but it would be nice to have more options now that Reddit and Twitter have alternatives. I would love to see a YouTube and ticktock version. Maybe even an instagram as well.
Theres diaspora that aimed at being an alternative to facebook but I dont recall it gained that much interest - not comparable to mastodon or lemmy that is. But then diaspora launched some 13 years ago when fb was dominating social media
To me these Balance Changes/Shakeups are just cheap pseudo content
Tbh after so many years it feels like some of these balance chances (overall - not just the upcoming ones obv) are introduced to make sure players are engaged. They obviously fix broken things but they also “fix” things when nobody ask them to and then, you need to wait months so they revert or change things again. The best example would be the journey we had with warriors banners.
18+ when will these subs move to Lemmy? When will the majority of subs be on Lemmy?

Thinking about leaving lemmy.world for a more free-speech focused instance. Does anyone have any ideas?

Books where the species aren't politically unified?
It's a common trope in sci-fi that Earth has a World Government and similarly the Aliens have only one government as well....
Subscribed after today's headlines about Reddit's mods for this sub bring booted.
Wondered if they might wind up here and want some support.
Is there/will there be a Federated version of most social media?
