not much to report, however i i have completed my reading goal for the year (35 books) with several months to spare thanks to The Red Corner: The Rise and Fall of Communism in Northeastern Montana
Over the past couple of months, my wife and I have been having lots of drama because she’s polyamorous, but I’m innately monogamous (at least thus far).
She has a boyfriend now and it’s been a struggle, but I’ve finally accepted/realized that there’s no actual threat of her leaving (which was the core source of my anxiety and jealousy).
So we’re doing awesome now! We still have sex, snuggle, and generally carry on as normal, just that she also has someone who is satisfying that need to experience new relationships.
I was thinking of installing a shade sail to my house with 2 of the points anchored to my house. The type of sail I'm installing is a square type I found on Amazon. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this is safe in the event of high winds? Some videos I've found suggests the most you need to do is make sure you're tying...
I would recommend doing something like what I did in this photo. I originally just did a simple hook like you posted, but some very high winds bent it, and it was somewhat loose - I still don't know how it stayed in.
I cut a piece of angled steel, drilled holes, and painted with white Plastidip. Then used some nylon spacers with the marine hook. I have not had any issues at all, it's been 7 months and they're rock solid.
Yes, they are metal pipes/fittings that I got from Lowe's (local hardware store). I used a spray paint with the term "hammered" in the name, it gives a nice textured metal coating, since they don't look this nice off the store shelves!
I used strong dish soap and a scrub brush to get them dirt and grease free, then assembled and put them in the oven at 200 degrees (F) for 30 minutes to dry. Then put on rubber gloves to handle (no skin oils) and painted them. Have had no issues with the paint chipping off or anything like that.
If he enjoys electronics and music, then I definitely recommend encouraging his journey into this direction! I would be okay with you asking questions in this thread if you need any help/guidance/resources.
Just chiming in to say that while I can understand some people's frustration, I support this.
The community here is great and I'd like it to stay that way.
In real life, I choose to associate with good people and avoid areas where the quality of people who can show is completely unpredictable or not my taste.
i prefer a chill bar with quiet outside seating and no live music. I go there specifically because I'm not looking for a biker bar experience.
I see it as a strength to the fediverse. It's no different than different forums back in the day. I do understand that my above statement would be akin to different communities, but I agree that even if someone's behavior is only "bad" in a community where that was acceptable, it does affect the community as a whole, knowing that they're lurking (in terms of feeling like this is a safe space).
Keep up the good work, and thank you for having to make these difficult decisions; I know it's not easy.
I've never been sentimental about a social media site but it's sad for me to see reddit so clearly killing itself. Pushshift is already banned and Apollo is soon to follow. Reddit will either pivot fully to a mainstream audience or die out. It's just sad for me to see it doing it to itself.
That's what I think, those who are actually interested in managing a quality sub will likely learn how the fediverse works and move, since the quality of people here will, on average, be higher than the unwashed masses.
Hi. I've subscribed to several communities outside my instance already, but I'm having a problem where I can't seem to repeat the process for certain communities....
Evening all, This is a really tough post to write but following my post the other day I think the best course of action is to shut down Sync before the new API changes go live.
hey folks. here's a new FAQ on the community, since the currently pinned thread is a bit haphazard and crammed now, and we've had more time to go over stuff....
I just saw this post over on r/modcoord which is basically a massive list of subreddits participating in the blackout protest. If I'm being honest I haven't seen this much anger and coordinated frustration since the era right before the digg exodus....
So is there any way for me to help in terms of load distribution? Still figuring out this federated stuff.
Let's say beehaw for example.
I don't think (?) I want to create my own instance to moderate or whatever, but am I able to create an instance which is like a node to help with load/volume?
Or is that a matter of beehaw needing beefier servers/bandwidth? Meaning it comes down to financial contribution (which I've already set a monthly donation for).
Don't dox yourself. Try to limit your information to a Maidenhead locator or general area of at least a few kilometers in an urban area and a few dozen in rural areas....
how's your week going, Beehaw

Is anyone else beginning to mourn reddit?

Sync for Reddit will shut down on June 30, 2023 (www.reddit.com)

What projects are you working on at the moment?
I have been working on a forum site just to dabble with PHP. I'm dockerising it too to practice docker.
Reddit Blackout Plans are really heating up...
I just saw this post over on r/modcoord which is basically a massive list of subreddits participating in the blackout protest. If I'm being honest I haven't seen this much anger and coordinated frustration since the era right before the digg exodus....
Reddit mods are organizing blackouts to protest against API changes (www.reddit.com)
Some of the planned blackouts will be temporary, others plan to shut their subreddits down indefinitely in protest.
where are you from?
