rush,

it lacks Wayland support.

It lacks wayland support in the sense that the UI won’t run on Wayland. It can take screenshots on Wayland.

rush,

genuinely just a horrible take

rush,

The spellchecker by default does (as part of some initiative regarding improving spellcheck or whatever). There is a setting to disable it and another setting to disable telemetry. Disabling both of these effectively makes the keyboard offline apart from things like Stickers and Emojikitchen.

You can also block internet access to GBoard and it’ll work just fine.

If you don’t hard-depend on GBoard, you may wanna look into Florisboard and Helium314’s OpenBoard Fork

rush,

…three minutes!!!

Talk about dedication, I love that

rush,

Should be as simple as a shader on-top of Weston or sum 🤷

rush,

PiHole allows temporarily disabling, including a time (e.g "disable for 30 seconds/2 minutes/1 hour) and setting different filters for different users ;)

rush,

There’s other reasons to use Magisk for this instead, like not having a VPN slot free or wanting to use another DNS Server

rush,

It’s pointless, but it’s customization.

Either way, XFCE already has plans for Wayland support

rush,

Well, computers physically cannot be random, they rely on logic

rush,

CSPRNG literally stands for “cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator”. All randomness in computers is pseudorandom. Not TRULY random

Radioactive sources for randomness aren’t really just put into your average household PC or phone either for obvious reasons.

rush,

That’s not what I’m doubting here. I was raising awareness to the fact that a computer physically cannot be truly random. I know that pseudorandomness is enough as we cannot perceive a difference easily.

rush,

On the startpage of the settings there’s an animation speed slider, including an option to turn them off entirely.

rush,

There’s elementary/pantheon tweaks for titlebar editing, other than that you just click the app’s icon on the dock again.

rush,

We shouldn’t judge people for past decisons when new info comes out, especially when that new info makes them change. It will take some time for people to move and find a viable alternative.

I do not intend this to be an attack of any kind, please be more considerate of the fact that changes can’t be made instantly when you have an audience to move.

rush,

SimpeX uses servers, but they’re just relays and due to SimpelX’s design, no single server fan figure out who you are or who you’re talking to. By using Tor they also couldn’t band together and fingerprint you by IP.

If you want to see the model explained, visit their website or just ask here, I’m glad to explain how it keeps your contact graph, identity and messages private :)

rush,

Additionally these servers are random per-contact, can be changed around and all data and almost all metadata is either encrypted or otherwise protected ;)

rush,

Florisboard and OpenBoard are good. Sadly the primary version of OpenBoard seems unmaintained, but there is this fork by Helium314 with extra features and bug fixes that’s still maintained.

rush,

If its an article or other mostly static content, try viewing through archive.is or archive.org

Apple releases statement on iMessage (www.theverge.com)

At Apple, we build our products and services with industry-leading privacy and security technologies designed to give users control of their data and keep personal information safe. We took steps to protect our users by blocking techniques that exploit fake credentials in order to gain access to iMessage. These techniques posed...

rush,

Note that RCS as a standard doesn’t include End-To-End-Encryption because the telcom companies which designed it could not introduce that as per US law. Google added End-To-End-Encryption with Google Messages.

rush,

Bitwarden has TOTP in their premium plans, otherwise check ente.io/auth

rush,

I think the point is more that those which are fine with UI changes will not go to their nearest community to tell everyone about it. Rage is a much better motivator for things like that, see the “simplification trend rage” where everyone is going mad about Simple Logos despite many of the same companies having had simple logos in the past before Skeumorphism was a design trend.

rush,

Late reply, but piped.adminforge.de is my server of choice, with piped.smnz.de and piped.lunar.icu as alternatives
