Also a problem in Canada. Disabled Adults Shouldn’t Have to Pay This Price to Marry https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/12/opinion/disabled-adults-ssi-marriage.html

Finally got a Costco membership because Instacart integrates with it now. It brings the prices down significantly and I think I can easily make up the cost of the membership just by buying some of my usual items (or Costco equivalents). Does anyone else shop there? (Especially those who live alone but just have a lot of storage space.) I'm curious if I should be looking out for particularly good deals on anything.

@simon I like the jinger beef they sell, their chicken brest is also really good. The potato salad they sell there is really good as well, better tasting than the places elsewhere you can get that same salad. High chews, chips, and two byte brownies are cheaper from their if you're looking for munchies.

@simon I'm not sure.

Every time I think about the ticktock ban I'm reminded of the theory that went around years ago that the NFB stopped Microsoft from adding a screen reader into Vista. Work got started on it, and the NFB partnering with the big AT venders made MS remove it. I wonder if the social credit connection theory is another one of those? Something that's hard to proove.

Good points in this. I agree I wanted to hate on tick tock because the company doesn't care to make it that accessible, but that's no reason to ban the thing. https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/53253/controvercial-tiktok-isnt-fine-but-you-guys-dont-know-something/

Maybe if someone would explain the CCP social credit connection to me I'd see that as a valid excuse to ban the thing.

Every 12-year-old is learning how to use a VPN right now. Don’t just learn about them, learn how to set one up for yourself. You’ll never have to deal with oversold VPN companies like most people will in the future.

Atlas OS playbook got an update, so I did a format where I removed Windows defender from the ISO. Fucking premium experience like, no issues whatsoever. It was so nice except for of course, working around aim wizard Beta accessibility quirks.

To remove defender from an ISO, download this repository, and run the powershell. It has an GUI you just have to run it and select iso and output folder. https://github.com/zoicware/StripWindowsDefender

It just needs Lua Support, and net play! I’m glad something like this is available officially, because having only free to play on iPhone is annoying! https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/igba-gba-gbc-retro-emulator/id6482993626

aw, it got taken down. It only linked to homebrew too! How lame.

If you haven’t tried the iPhone app Speech Central now is probably a good time. They just got a voice dream reader import feature.

Okay, I've heard it over and over and over again. Friends don't let friends run their own mail servers. Which is exactly what I've been doing since late 2008. Has never really been a problem until recently. On Friday my IP (or probably more likely my IP subnet or Linode's ASN) found itself on Cloudmark's blocklist, which means Comcast and Charter outright refuse to talk to me. I can successfully send Email to Comcast using IPv6, but Charter apparently doesn't support that. I've heard good things about Mxroute from a few folks here, and I'm just wondering how you're liking it? I have a few questions which their presales/FAQ pages don't cover. Any thoughts? Thanks.

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@sasquatch @jaybird110127 I used to use fast mail, but I got too much spam with them. I wonder how MX route is on that.

I'm working on a new program. It's going to be called Blind Nerd Toolbox. It's current function is an invisible task manager, complete with the ability to see which process is using the most RAM (CPU coming soon) and ending processes. Will also eventually incorperate things like NVDA's resource monitor functions, as well as things such as process count monitors, RAM usage monitors, and this is way far off, but also GPU related stuff, all without the need of any kind of window/visible user interface. Is there any interest in a program like this?

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@bryansmart @Bri That is the only downside of an invisible interface, keyboard conflicts.

You know how I feel about Alberta, but they are giving out Envision AI glasses to blind people. Hope someone I know leaches it for obvious reasons.

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@bryansmart Yeah, sometimes I wonder if the earning exemptions we have here are worth it you know? I know the US system sucks in someways compared to what we have though.

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@bryansmart Everyone I know personally has a tough time getting anything. Companies don’t want to deal with us here because of insurance companies. Is it the same there?

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@bryansmart Believe that it’s healthcare concerns

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@bryansmart No, they just don’t give you a job until you want to do that lol. The government really needs to step in and do something about this. It goes far beyond personal disposition on blind people. They have to force insurance companies to let us be hired in positions we can do.

Okay. I have a quest. And my quest is to switch TTHub.org's email over to MXRoute before March 1 so I don't get charged another gazillion dollars for a single enterprise user that isn't even giving me the unlimited storage that serves as the single reason I bought it to begin with. For a while I was still able to use it despite getting nagged every month, but that stopped a couple of months ago so now it's just dead. All my stuff is on Backblaze B2, (RIP my cloud bill), and I already have the MXRoute subscription, I just need to ... create the user, and set up the records, and migrate the inbox, and swallow the fly to catch the bird...

serrebi,
@serrebi@tweesecake.social avatar

@simon That provider doesn’t look like they will be around forever. They are tempting because of their lifetime offer.
