Today I learnt that gas meters have a lithium battery in them and the battery can run out! I wouldn’t have thought it should cut off the supply though? Anyway TLDR we have no gas this morning and the meter is dead.

IFTTT kept disabling the trigger to an aircon, causing temperature issues. Re-authentication and re-adding didn’t help, often failing overnight. I've bypassed IFTTT by directly accessing the API, but I question our dependence on cloud solutions for automation. Should manufacturers offer local device APIs? I wonder if any security risks are outweighed by the benefits of running on a private network with no public internet access?

It's out of date technology, it's long been turned off, but it's still sad that something that used to broadcast my voice across large parts of the UK, Ireland and beyond with half a megawatt of power is no longer standing. We did try to get a last Atlantic 252 reunion broadcast out of it for old times sake but RTE wanted €300,000 Euros before they'd even talk to us.
