@siracusa Do you think it's a no-brainer assumption that the next gen of consoles will use ARM processors?

Just thinking how the gaming industry as a whole might orchestrate its move to ARM

@benpickering I think the top two barriers are:

  1. Backwards compatibility. (I’m not sure x86 emulation on an ARM PS6 will be fast enough to play PS5 games at native speed, for example.)

  2. Finding a vendor to combine a good GPU with an ARM CPU in a single package. NVIDIA could do it…but I’m not sure there’s anyone else. Is NVIDIA interested?

@joshhunt I don't think I said it is too late, only that it's not certain that an OpenAI deal struck now will bear fruit at WWDC rather than at a later date. Both things are possible.
