@nutomic this is great! I mentioned Lemmy on the Extism discussion I started, asking for use-in-the-wild..

smallcircles, to random in meta groups

@tedu

There's something to terminology and design to ponder, I think.

@diogo of submitted the before, that can be used to indicate an Group is 'spread out'/supported on multiple instances:

https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/2100/fep-2100.md

A metagroup has an unfortunate association to Meta. Is it an unbound group, or maybe a compound, or composite group?

For example:

"Front-end" group is a composite of "NodeJS" + "Deno" groups (where these groups may both be unbound too).

I chose the original logo, which is just a recolorization of an SVG Gem emoji from Wikimedia. Then an adaptation was made. Am on mobile now, can't check whom to credit. See main codeberg repo :)

You sure can! I am doing that now on my own Lemmy post 😃

@comfy @ada

I tend to agree. Now its forum-like apps where fedi integrations are made. Next it is more video apps, podcasting apps (via podcasting hub), coding apps (via the forge federation movement), and you-name-it different app domains.

Are we going to invent new names for each new app type that becomes federated? Might as well give the term Splinterverse right now then. Nothing feels connected anymore, and a "unique selling point" (to stick with marketing-like brand terminology) is lost.

Thought of Converse.

But a pity about the other meanings of "Converse" than "Conversation; familiar discourse or talk; free interchange of thoughts or opinions."
