Has anybody have a clue?

I the notifications area of my phone, this little eye symbol (screenshot attached) appeared some time ago, and I have no idea of its meaning.

Big brother is watching me?

@mina On my Samsung phone it meant the feature was turned on which watches your eyes and keeps the screen turned on if it thinks you're still looking at it. It didn't work very well, though.

Question: Is there a Mastodon-App where I can scroll up in a thread whilst composing an answer to a toot?

As a mainly web user, it annoys the heck out of me that I can't do that in Tusky.

@mina It's certainly frustrating. I often wish I could do that on the mobile web interface, though at least it lets me navigate away to check things. Commenting on a picture is one situation where I really wish I could see what I'm doing.

    What's your favorite typo?

    For my work, I play with US geography all day, everyday. I misspell New Hampshire as "New Hampshite" every single time and I can't even be mad about it because it always makes me laugh.

    I hope that the good people of the "Live Free or Die" state can find it in their hearts to bear with me...

    @mina For some of them I agree, but for others I think they genuinely see their experience as typical for everyone. The kind of person who defines "friends" as "two people each of whom has set the other's posts to appear in a feed they scroll through".

    @jabberati @gruik @caiocgo Correct, and also if you reply to a wrongly-tagged post without checking, your reply gets tagged with the same wrong language. The default language of your reply is the language of the post you're replying to.

    I wish people would use the web interface, so they can actually see the setting and easily change it when posting.

    @Allie_Bilbao The answer not involving workarounds is to find out which servers have a longer character limit. It's set by the server admin, not built in to Mastodon.

    (Unfortunately the one I'm aware of which I think has a much longer limit also had either kinkyelephant.com or kinky.business on its list of moderated instances when I looked, so probably wouldn't be suitable.)

    @Allie_Bilbao Nothing! They're for people who want to post NSFW stuff. So a server which blocks or limits them isn't likely to be a good one to be on if you yourself like NSFW stuff. (They both seem to be excellent servers, in fact.)

    I was also thinking that a lot of the people you follow or are followed by are probably on one or other of them.

    @Allie_Bilbao I'm saying that the server I thought of ISN'T nsfw, since it doesn't like those two. They're on the list of ones it partially blocks. So potential readers might not get to see it, etc.

    Obviously I couldn't resist pressing the Translate button. It did actually have a go, but seems to have something against ä's.
